“Good variety”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013 via mobile

First visit here with team and it is amazing place to dine. I loved the variety of cuisines it offered and could try a a lot of options at a very reasonable cost. The portion was small so low cost but it gave me an option to try a variety of dishes. My favorite has been the chops.

“For Tapas - One of the best in Atlanta”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

If you are someone who wants the big plate experience stop reading now and go on to something else. Cellar 56 specializes in Tapas (small plates) and nothing else. While its not a true Spanish restaurant, for Atlanta it has some of the best Tapas around in this area. Most of the dishes run between 5 and 8 dollars each and you'll need at least 2 and maybe 3 if you're hungry. They are well prepared, consistant, and very tasty. The location is hard to find the first time as it is buried in the back of large building with only small signage, and on crowded nights can be a little noisy. However it is well appointed and the wait staff is very nice. On nice days you can sit outside (sort of) around a fountain. Some of my favorite dishs are the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, the mussels in wine sauce (ask for extra bread), the chicken breast, and the Guiness braissed short rib. Others worth mentioning are the Wild Mushroom risotto, Roast pork loin, and Scallop. There are more but those are the ones I like the best.

Could they do anything better? Well yes. For some unexplaned reason - outside of 3 or 4 salads - there really isn't any serious vegetable dish. For example Harcort Verts with Bacon, brussel sprouts, etc would be great sides to order with many of the other dishes, but they don't exist. They could also make some suggested pairings. For example the short rib and the wild mushroom dish go very well together, but the diner is left to guess.

Biggest downer? The wine list admittedly is fairly extensive with lots of choices - that is a good thing. The bad part is that they have many of the wines terribly overpriced for what they are. They are just simply a little more expensive than most places that have good wine selections. They could be well served to do a little price adjustments in this area.

Will I continue to go? Absolutely. Highly recommend them

“Small Buckhead restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

The atmosphere was quiet & intimate. The food good (small portions) but quite satisfying. The wait staff very helpful and pleasant. The cost was quite high for what you get.

“Tasty tapas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Good variety of tapas, with some unique dishes. Nice place to have a light dinner and drinks before partying in the East Andrews area.

“Tasty Food, Romantic Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

I love tapas restaurants and this one was no exception. Being able to order lots of little dishes and share is romantic and fun, plus a great way to get just the right amount of food. This particular restaurant had great service and very good, plus a romantic, candle-lit atmosphere. None of the food was so spectacular that I'd prefer going twice to trying other Atlanta cuisine (except perhaps the flour-less chocolate cake, which I highly recommend!). However, it was an awesome date and a restaurant I would definitely suggest going to at least once.
