Description: Opening just in time for Oktoberfest 2010, Der Biergarten gives Atlanta residents and visitors a true taste of German culture. Located Downtown within the Luckie Marietta District, Der Biergarten fills a citywide void of beer gardens and authentic German fare while providing world-class service in a festive, traditional atmosphere. Co-owner Wolfgang Hartert, a local resident and native of Germany, provided much of the inspiration for Der Biergarten. As he says, “Atlanta needs a restaurant like Der Biergarten. The significant German population and business community in Atlanta is begging for an authentic dining experience. I know that Der Biergarten will provide Europeans, just like me, a place to share the rich heritage of Germany with American friends.” Der Biergarten is made up of an elegant white tablecloth dining room, an alley with Fussball and table shuffleboard, and, of course, the indoor/outdoor beer garden. With traditional family style seating -a la Munich- and multiple flat-screen TVs, the beer garden is the best place for watching European or American football! Enjoy our authentic German cuisine while being surrounded by Bavarian décor, such as the hand-painted trompe l'oeil ("illusionistic") murals by Alexi Torres Alonso and a German-manufactured model-railroad that circles the restaurant.

“Fun relaxing place to try some new beers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Deer Biergarten staff were welcoming, helpful, accommodating when our party was larger than our reservation and when we asked for a different table than the one first offered. The staff helpfully explained the difference between the beer and food choices and served the food and beverages quickly and as ordered.

“Authentic German”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

As a German living in the U.S. I am always eager to eat food from the homeland :) Sometimes it's good and sometimes not so much. The food at this restaurant was very authentic! We had Obatzda as an appetizer (cheese spread), which came with real German bread (hard to find sometimes). The beer was good, even though in Germany you would have a decent amount of foam on top. I understand that Americans prefer no foam on their beer. Our main dish was 1) Bratwurst with sauerkraut and potato salad, 2) Knackwurst with the same, and 3) Leberkäse with egg and cheese. All three dishes were delicious! We were too full to have any of their apple strudel or other desserts. The atmosphere was ok. We sat outside on the balcony since it wasn't too hot and humid. I thought the prices were a little on the high side. Then again, authentic food has its price.

“Great beer and delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

My husband and three teenagers visited for dinner and left full and satisfied. The potato pancakes were wonderful and the authentic dishes were a nice change of course for us. The staff was terrific even going so far as to accommodate my son who has difficulty with certain flavors. The strudel was yummy too and I highly recommend. Husband loved the beer selection. There is indoor and outdoor dining and the location is great if you're visiting the aquarium, CNN, etc.

“Very good, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We hosted a dinner event here, the food was good, the beer was good, but the seating was tough for older people (picnic-table style), and 5 of the beers on their menu were sold out. I visited another day and again, 5 beers were sold out. Seems they don't manage the inventory very well.
