I have stayed at the Emory Conference Center Hotel twice in the last six weeks, visiting a friend at Emory University Hospital. Staff are wonderful--fast, friendly, helpful. The food is surprisingly good (for a conference center) and not expensive. (We tried everything from chef salads to burgers to homemade ravioli and a wide range of appetizers and desserts during our 2 stays. The location is perfect if you are working at the CDC, or have any business at the hospital or on the Emory campus. (They even have shuttles.) Parking is convenient and easy. And the shops and restaurants at Emory Point are only 2 blocks away. The only downsides--the hotel is starting to show its age. The elevators are slow and make some very strange noises. The facility is non-smoking, but the rooms have that older, musty hotel scent---though linens were fresh and bathroom surfaces were fairly clean. Carpets, drapes, bedspreads were showing wear and some stains. If you've gotten accustomed to "heavenly beds", these are a bit more clinical in terms of sleep quality--but not bad. And I was not there for pleasure so I do not know anything first-hand about the pool, workout room, bar, etc. Though all seemed to be rather nice and not crowded. Other than the age/decor of the place and the lack of some top-end room features, it is a good place to stay. Would not choose it for a resort---but for business and for conferences, would go back again with no problem. (Free in-room WIFI was available, which is not always the case even at higher-priced hotels.) And for Atlanta, the cost was extremely moderate. Give it a try if your business takes you to that part of Atlanta.
Get a balcony room on a higher floor, especially if the weather will allow you to sit outside.
