“Favorite Atlanta hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013 via mobile

While visiting Atlanta, my family and I have stayed here several times in lieu of staying at busier hotels along Peachtree and other central Atlanta locations. We love it because of the ample free (and safe) parking, onsite restaurants, indoor pool, relative proximity to east Atlanta attractions like Fernbank and dining in the Virginia Highlands area.

I have stayed at the Emory Conference Center Hotel twice in the last six weeks, visiting a friend at Emory University Hospital. Staff are wonderful--fast, friendly, helpful. The food is surprisingly good (for a conference center) and not expensive. (We tried everything from chef salads to burgers to homemade ravioli and a wide range of appetizers and desserts during our 2 stays. The location is perfect if you are working at the CDC, or have any business at the hospital or on the Emory campus. (They even have shuttles.) Parking is convenient and easy. And the shops and restaurants at Emory Point are only 2 blocks away. The only downsides--the hotel is starting to show its age. The elevators are slow and make some very strange noises. The facility is non-smoking, but the rooms have that older, musty hotel scent---though linens were fresh and bathroom surfaces were fairly clean. Carpets, drapes, bedspreads were showing wear and some stains. If you've gotten accustomed to "heavenly beds", these are a bit more clinical in terms of sleep quality--but not bad. And I was not there for pleasure so I do not know anything first-hand about the pool, workout room, bar, etc. Though all seemed to be rather nice and not crowded. Other than the age/decor of the place and the lack of some top-end room features, it is a good place to stay. Would not choose it for a resort---but for business and for conferences, would go back again with no problem. (Free in-room WIFI was available, which is not always the case even at higher-priced hotels.) And for Atlanta, the cost was extremely moderate. Give it a try if your business takes you to that part of Atlanta.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room on a higher floor, especially if the weather will allow you to sit outside.

I recently stayed at Emory Conference Center hotel for a training. I would love to stay at Emory again even if I was just visiting and on vacation. My room was spacious and I had a beautiful view of the Garden. Loved the bathroom toiletries I was provided with especially the soap (organic mango soap I believe)! I loved everything about bathroom and the large tiled shower. House keeping did a great job with my room. Emory hotel offers entertainment and dining which I find to be so great. I also used their rental car service with Enterprise and had a great experience. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and provided excellent customer service. The front desk helped me out with an issue I was having and it was quickly resolved. I also ordered room service and the lady was so friendly. I truly felt like a guest and very welcomed. Thank you Emory for making my stay an excellent one!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the same level as the Garden. It has a great view!

We stayed 2 nights while visiting the CDC. The wooded surroundings are beautiful. The hotel was absolutely beautiful. Our room was comfortable - nice bedding, clean, spacious. The nearby shopping and dining complex is a big plus. We reserved thru BookIt and were able to have free parking along with a great rate.

The beautiful and moderate- expensive hotel we stayed in june 2013 for a birthday party was not so great this time This time the first night of our 3 day stay my husband killed a cochroach in the bedroom and in the bathroom. They changed our room the next morning. We unpacked, used the bathroom and the whole bathroom door frame was warped and the door wouldn't close....complained again, packed up and they changed our room. Unpacked and left to go to relatives funeral. Later that night when we came in my husband hit something with his shoe under the dust ruffle of the bed. We found a shoe that didn't belong to either of us. We looked for the leg and didn't find one thank g-d. I did not want to complain and make trouble for the chambermaid so i wrote her a note and put it inside the shoe for her to read.

Also, at dinner the first night the waitress in the hotel restaurant was carrying a tray of full water glasses and a pitcher of water. She accidently tipped it and it spilled all over my sister in law.and some of the glasses broke.Nobody hurt but the young girl was so upset she was crying and the manager of the restaurant came in to smooth things over......we assured her at the table and when we were leaving that it wasn't the girls fault and she was very competent and she should not be chastised.... she felt bad enough. All in all this was a terrible stay. We came home yesterday happy to be out of there.

Room Tip: you need to look carefully at the room you get to see that the a/c works, the room is clean, and th...

Dear Ggoosie,
Thank you for choosing the Emory Conference Center Hotel on your recent visit. We appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you again the next time you are in Atlanta.

Our mangment team just had a chance to read your review and are obviously concerned to hear about your experiences with the cleanliness of your guest room. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize, as that was not the way we typically take care of our guests.

We were able to go through our records of guest requests and figure out which rooms you stayed in and who handled exactly what part of your stay. We taken a step back this week and gone back to basics in terms of training from both our Housekeeping staff, Guest Room Inspectors (who double check the room), and our Front Desk staff in terms of guest service recovery. We have also gone back to training with our reservations staff in terms of how to properly load a tray and how to determine what is a safe weight to carry. I know that this does not change your experience but I hope that you can feel confident that we heard your concern.

Thank you again for your feedback. We truly appreciate you sharing your comments with us and hope that on your next stay, you will see the turn around in service.

I had two connecting rooms at this property on Saturday night for a bit of indoor "camping". I reserved through Kayak--the hotel's online prices were over double those offered by everyone else, so unless you're getting a great conference rate, make sure to shop around! The rooms were spacious and clean. The bathroom was lovely. The only design flaw is in the shower: the controller is behind the door, so you have to be IN the shower to turn it on, which can be quite a shock! We had breakfast in the restaurant. It was a major bargain and the service was excellent and attentive, particularly given that it was a buffet. The location (which includes free parking) is actually quite convenient to much of Atlanta and the surrounding grounds provide for a really quite night's sleep. Would recommend without hesitation.

Room Tip: The hotel is very large, so if you have mobiliity problems, make sure to let the reservations depart...

Dear NYCTraveler21592,
We wanted to thank you for taking the time to provide a review of our hotel and services here on TripAdvisor. Please know that if you ever find a great deal online, we will always be glad to match it - just drop us a line! As for our bathrooms, we do have rooms with walk in showers with glass doors. We prop these doors open to keep the air in them from getting "stuffy" when a room isn't occupied for a couple of days. Unfortunately, this does provide the appearance that the door only swings one way. Thankfully, they do swing both in and out, so starting this week, we are placing "Pull" signs on all of the doors so no one else will have to go through the cold shower shock. :-) We are glad to hear you had such a great time in our dining room - from the service to the food. We are also like that you enjoyed the grounds. While not right in the heart of downtown, we do sit on 20 wooded acres and are only a few short miles to the heart of the city. With the addition of the Emory Point apartment and retail complex next door, we have almost everything a guest could need within walking distance. Thank you again for reviewing our hotel and we definitely hope to see you again soon!

What a find! Excellent reasonably priced accommodations near the heart of Atlanta. This Frank Lloyd Wright inspired hotel is nestled in the gorgeous wooded campus of Emory University. It's well appointed, well maintained, very comfortable and close to several restaurants, some shopping, and the Center for Disease Control.
