“Beautiful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Very shiny and new. Really handy for the airport - just jump on the Skytrain, takes 2 minutes, free ride between the hotel and airport. Beautiful lobby. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. We only stayed one night, but the room was great, and a very comfy bed. Had dinner at the Champions restaurant - okay. But breakfast the next morning was fabulous. Highly recommended. We will stay here again.

Staff is wonderful. We haven't received such exceptional treatment since our last stay at a Four Seasons. Every employee went out of their way to welcome us, to regularly ask about our trip, our room, our meals, our cocktails, etc. It's clear they care about their guests and want them to have the best experience they can.

We were very disappointed in the onsite restaurant, "Champions". The hotel website is misleading and makes it appear there are 2 restaurants onsite, but there is only the "Champions" sports bar, with the typical sports bar menu (cheese fries, burgers, wings, etc). They have a lovely lobby bar where they also serve food (the "Great Room"), and the food and drinks there were very good. We were looking forward to a nice, relaxing dinner after a long day of travel, and sadly sadly had to settle for a terrible meal at Champions. 20 minutes before our first drink order arrived, lemon chicken was dry and flavorless, pasta sauce tasted like ketchup. On the way back to our room, the front desk staff asked us about our meal, and we replied honestly. Within 30 minutes we received a call from the restaurant manager apologizing and asking what can be done to make it better. Very impressive to have such pro-active staff and such fast follow-up. They also left a hand-written note under our door overnight, and a coupon for their breakfast buffet.

Direct link to the airport via tram is wonderful - fast, easy and no need to rent a car.

The property is new, and has very stylish decor. Lobby bar was a great place to relax and meet up with other family members as they arrived for our reunion/party.

We stayed here the night before we departed for an international trip. It was nice to sleep well in the incredibly comfortable bedding. We made our way downstairs to find the airport shuttle waiting for us...and the driver was so helpful with our luggage.

Upon our return, the driver drove straight to our car and again handled all our luggage for us.

I would much rather pay for a comfy room than pay airport parking fees and have to worry about waking at the crack of dawn to make my flight...

To get to the hotel, you get on the sky train towards the car rental center. The first stop is the Gateway Center. The hotel is in the Gateway Center. After exiting the train, you go down an elevator...and after exiting the elevator on the street level the hotel is just to your left. The location is great for easy airport access. It was so nice not to have to wait in the dark for an airport shuttle to pick me up.

The rooms are very quiet. Our room overlooked the Skytrain and planes came by all night long. The room was so quiet that we did not hear either the Skytrain or any of the incoming air traffic.

The front desk was courteous and quick. The room service was quick. The concierge lounge was perfect for a quick breakfast on a weekday morning. On Saturday & Sunday I would suggest getting breakfast included in the room rate. The buffet breakfast in the Champion Restaurant was excellent. The selection included pastries, a wide variety of fresh fruit, made to order omelets along with other hot dishes including bacon, potatoes, eggs, etc.

The rooms were a typical Marriott type room and décor. Our room was extremely clean! It felt like being in a brand new hotel room

I will definitely stay here again when visiting Atlanta.

The location was perfect for our convention center events. The hotel is clean and the employees ate all friendly and helpful. The bar inside the lobby has good drinks and the restaurant (Champions) also has a good menu selection of food.

We stayed at the Gateway after our wedding on April 20. Two days before the wedding, a representative called to confirm our stay and asked what was the occasion. I told her it was our wedding night and that we would be leaving early the next morning to catch a flight. She told me congratulations and that she would have something special for us when we arrived. Little did we know, we got upgraded to the presidential suite and had a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting on us. The staff was very nice. The rooms are spacious, modern, and beautiful. I felt like royalty staying here. I highly recommend.

Getting to/from the airport was a cinch on the skytrain. From the moment we stepped in the door of the Marriott on Friday night to Sunday morning, the entire staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean, inside and out. The king sized bed we had in our room was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The room was quiet, too. Great for the R&R we so desperately needed.

For dinner on Friday night, we went to Simon's in College Park. The food and the service were excellent. We could not be tempted to have dessert, though the cakes were 10" high by 10" across, made fresh on the premises. Each slice is at least 16 oz. each!

Saturday morning, we ventured to the exercise room, which was more than adequate and clean. We chose the buffet breakfast afterwards . . . a bit pricey. However, the service was friendly, and the food was fresh, hot, delicious.

Off to Atlanta! Getting into/out of the city was a breeze on MARTA. We were amazed at the escalators at the Peachtree station. Holy cow! They were the longest, steepest I've ever seen. We trekked to the Aquarium from there. For two people it was $80 and the show, included in our ticket, was for three hours after we arrived; didn't stay for that. Massive crowd with tons of kids running/screaming. We went to Meehan's Irish Pub for a late lunch. Great food. Great service.

Saturday evening, we attended a friend's birthday party where they had buffet-style serving. The food was exceptional. The peach cobbler was to die for!

Sunday morning, though we didn't want to leave the coziness of our bed, we had to leave to go home. I would highly recommend staying here.
