“Appropriately named Urban Oasis is a real treat in Atlanta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We stayed at the Urban Oasis B&B for two nights while visiting our niece who lives nearby. We felt very much at home in this lovely, capacious and colorful place. We had Robyn's room, a downstairs room with a semi-private bathroom, which was clean, comfortable and had plenty of storage space for our things. The bassets were friendly and funny and I was sad to leave them behind when it was time to go home. The outdoor spaces were as comfortable and almost as interesting as the artistic indoor areas. We spent one laid-back evening around the fire pit just hanging around and catching up with our niece and her friends. Judi and Duane were welcoming hosts and freely gave good advice and tips about what to do, see and eat in Atlanta. They seemed like instant new friends for us. We will definitely stay here when we visit Atlanta again.

We spent two nights at the Urban Oasis and it was a really good experience. The neighborhood is great, the space is very cool, and Judy had great restaurant and bar recommendations. We stayed in the room on the ground floor with the semi-private bath. If we are back in Atlanta we will definitely stay with them again.

The majority of B and B's tend to be located in older homes, often with Victorian charm. We have certainly frequented many fitting this description and have enjoyed lovely stays. However, it is a treat to discover one that is entirely different and unique which certainly is the case at Urban Oasis. Check out the HGTV visit! We appreciated the modern, arty vibe including the one-of-a-kind floor cloths created on canvas. There is something interesting most everywhere you look. In addition to great ambiance, we found Judi and Duane to be friendly, informative and down-to-earth hosts. They create a very relaxed, welcoming "nest" to enjoy after a day exploring Atlanta. Make sure to visit the MLK sites:powerful. Feel free to contact Judi in advance for questions and suggestions as she is very knowledgeable in regard to all the city has to offer.

Judi has converted an old cotton factory/warehouse into a true urban oasis. We thought this was a very fun place to stay and found much to enjoy nearby: good restaurants, cute shops, street art, lovely old homes and places of historical interest. Judi and Duane made us feel as if we were staying with friends and provided everything we needed. Situated next to the old R&R beltway which is being transformed into a bike path circling Atlanta, it will soon be a great location for cycling enthusiasts. Also, it is a perfect place to stay for Bike Tours of Atlanta!

The Urban Oasis is located just down the hill from the Inman Park area of Atlanta in an area that is upscaling. There are even a couple of very good restaurants within easy walking distance. It is quite convenient to the urban area of Atlanta and despite Atlanta's rather legendary traffic, I found, for example, it to be only 15 minutes from Morehouse College across town, where I was conducting a workshop. My wife came along on the trip and had a good time exploring the Inman Park area on foot while I was off doing my thing. The B&B is roomy, airy, and colorfully decorated. We found the loft room (Amanda's Suite) we stayed in to be quiet and quite comfortable, although I did have to be careful not to brain myself on an angled roof support that was uncomfortably close to my side of the bed. As others have noted, there are pets (dogs and cats), but they are generally well-behaved and know to stay out of the guest rooms. The owner's approach is to treat guests like visiting family, so you pretty much can have it how it best suits (I was leaving early each morning and prefer a nominal breakfast, so this worked great for me - it also suited my wife's dietary preferences). The gated (and plentiful) parking is a plus. Since we were visiting in the Winter we did not get to see how the building and grounds appear without the warts showing. Atlanta is constructing a pedestrian/bicycle greenway right behind the B&B where the railroad tracks used to be (from when the building was a Cotton processing plant), so at present there is a bit of construction and loss of privacy from that. The owner is concerned that eventually the city will decide the right of way would be of more use for light rail than walkers and bicyclers, but my guess is that is many years away, if ever. Regardless, some accommodation will be needed since the walkway as being constructed looks right into the back windows of the B&B. If it is of interest, the Internet connection was very fast and reliable. Despite its size, Atlanta is not a city with a large number of B&B's, or even boutique hotels, convenient to downtown, so it's nice to have discovered such a good B&B alternative.

Owners Judi and Duane are very nice! The visit is unstructured and self-paced in this eco-friendly household. Get fresh linens when you need them, food always available, etc. Free Wifi, cool pets: 3 bassets and 2 cats, and the place is visually fun and artistically appointed. Free parking in a gated lot. This place is centrally located and close to a lot of great restaurants and not too far from the Fourth Ward and the Edgewood Center for shopping.
