It is hard to find a decent hotel in Atlanta. I have actually only ever found two The Nikko, Buckhead, and The Swissotel, Buckhead, and neither exist any more, the replacements are not nearly as good.
We generally choose The Marriott if we are stuck, because they have such legendary comfortable beds. (Even though the fabulous old foam mattresses have changed now to pillow tops).
This hotel is old and tired. We were on the concierge floor, a room with a balcony, but not much of a view and no desire to go out on the balcony it was too noisy. The bathroom smelled, the air conditioning was erratic and noisy and the bedclothes were damp. I know hotels are cutting back on the luxuries, cheaper toilet paper, fewer towels, no wash cloths or shower caps in some hotels, but to cut back on the drying of the bedclothes is carrying it a bit too far, this is the third hotel we have been in where the bedclothes were damp. We had just flown back from Italy and had been 18 hrs on the go, by the time we discovered the bedclothes were damp we were too tired to change rooms, so I used the hair dryer instead which worked very well, at least I could sit down to do it.
The staff tried very hard and I am sure would have changed the room if we had only had the energy. Everyone is very friendly, kind and helpful, and genuinely seem to want to make our stay comfortable. For a short stay this hotel is OK.
