“A beautiful, luxurious and affordable hotel with poor service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2011 via mobile

It has every thing you would want from a hotel; luxury, great price, space, location and an amazing fitness center. But the service could definitly be better. But other than that it was a great experience.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Georgian Terrace the weekend of August 12-13, 2011. We traveled to Atlanta for the PGA golf tournament and a concert at the Fox. I pricelined Midtown for the night of the 13th but when I realized that we would be at the Georgian Terrace, I added an additional night. I have always wanted to stay there and was so excited. Unfortunately, my excitement was shortlived. Upon arrival we were advised that we were booked in a standard room with a double bed. I didn't even think hotels even had a bed smaller than a queen these days. We were "upgraded" for an additional $30 per night. If room 713 was an upgrade then I am very glad we didn't see a standard room. This was obviously NOT an upgraded room. The suite was quite large with a living/dining area, small kitchen, cool round bedroom with a kingsize bed but had the SMALLEST bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel (whether 1 star or 4 star). The small mirror in the bathroom was the only one in the suite and as it was impossible for 2 people to be in the bathroom at one time there was no other place to apply makeup or whatever you may need a mirror for. The wallpaper was peeling in the bedroom and bathroom. There were water stains on the ceiling, the icemaker in the fridge did not work so room service had to supply us with a couple of buckets of ice. The bolt on the door did not work. The only pros were the convenience to the Fox, a comfortable bed and 2 LG flatscreen TVs. There were old miniblinds in the bedroom with no drapes so it was impossible to block out the sun...no sleeping in here. I overheard some other guests on the elevator complaining about that also. One gentleman said that one of the blinds in his room would not even close. So....after paying the additional $60 for the upgrade, $60 for parking and $30 for a 12"-2 topping pizza and 2 canned cokes from room service, Priceline was no deal. There was absolutely no comparison between the Georgian Terrace and the Intercontinental in Buckhead- both of which were Pricelined for $75 per night. Save your money and stay there or in the burbs at a nice Comfort Suites with a big bathroom and lots of mirrors.

Dawgfan09,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us – you are helping us grow in a positive direction during our new phase of improvements!
We apologize that you were less than satisfied with your upgraded room, as it was meant to be a positive gesture, not to quell your frustration. We have several business travelers that these rooms are perfect for, but not always ideal for a couple vacationing like you and your boyfriend – which guests usually don’t find out until after booking with a discount website.
These websites can be extremely misleading, and there’s no way for us to control what they offer from outside. On a weekend, it becomes difficult to upgrade the rooms that a guest usually doesn’t even know they are booking. The hotel is a historic property, and in trying to preserve things like architectural assets, it can also mean the room sizes vary. We are amidst a rooms renovation and we are working towards updating most of the rooms to include more amenities, such as mirrors, etcetera.
We’re glad that you were able to see a show at the Fox; we are fortunate to have the location to such an excellent venue. We are also thrilled that you found the beds to be comfortable and appreciated other amenities such as the flat screens. Thank you once again for giving us crucial feedback, and we hope that you will give us another chance to serve you when our renovation is complete.

Warmest regards,
Brianna Salomon

We stayed there while attending a show at the Fox. The hotel was very nice, the people were very nice and the room was nice. The allowed us to check in early before the matinee. Not much of a view out the window but we were able to watch an electrical storm approach from the rooftop pool.........very cool! The cost of parking overnight was outrageous. Preshop for a parking deal.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

My entire family unto third cousins and many of our friends stayed at the Georgian Terrace for the long weekend of our daughter's wedding. The hotel will have its 100th birthday very soon. They are in the midst of updating it and remodeling and I hate saying anything bad about such a venerable old hotel. But there are a few things that we would have liked to have known before we got there. We had a three bedrooms suite. The living room and the dining room are huge and nicely appointed. The bedrooms are of moderate size and the beds are good enough. However, there was only one lamp in each bedroom and no ceiling fixture. That made the rooms very dark for dressing. There was not a full length mirror anywhere in the suite. There is a full size kitchen, but there isn't one thing in it but a coffee maker, the standard hotel kind with styrofoam cups and there were plastic cups for the bathrooms. There wasn't even a roll of paper towels. You can pay a fee and have a set of kitchenware put in your room, but it just didn't seem worth it. If we had known ahead of time, we would have brought some staples to see us through. A full size refrigerator with a freezer and ice maker was a great addition though. There is a full size laundry room, also with nothing but the machines. I think that the kitchen and the laundry are standard in every room.
The bathrooms are tiny and the towels are thread bare. They seemed to be wash cloth challenged as well, since we asked several times for them and I think we got two all together.
There are only two elevators for the entire hotel and getting up and down could be quite a wait.
There is something strange about the 24 hour room service. It just wasn't available all of those 24 hours for some reason. There is no convenience store in the hotel where you could get snacks or magazines etc.
The wifi is free but you must be able to attach their wifi cable to your computer. My MacBook Air doesn't use such a connection. There was some semblance of a wireless connection, but it never really worked for more than a few minutes here and there.
On the good side, the service is wonderful and the workers make you feel like you are very important. We felt as if we had made friends there. They were always super quick to take care of any problems that came up.
The parking is a little inconvenient but the location is very convenient to everything.
The common rooms of the hotel are fabulous and couldn't be more beautiful and elegant. You just need to weigh the good and not so good and see if it is right for you.

samille,

We are very thankful for you taking the time to share your story with us and our future guests. Having your family here for such a memorable event like a wedding is an honor for us, and we hope it was an incredible experience for your daughter as well. We appreciate you sharing your knowledge of our history and anniversary year, while also being compassionate of the age of our building.
We are very lucky to have been awarded the opportunity to receive renovation to several of our rooms. Many of the fixtures will be updated with this renovation, and will create a better setting for changing, etcetera. We will definitely address the fact that not everyone is aware of what utensils our kitchens and laundry rooms carry, and we will alert our guests more effectively ahead of time. You bring up several great points and opportunities in which we can benefit. Our staff works hard to make you feel at home – we’re glad they achieved your approval! As you can see, we do have great views and an architecturally beautiful building that we want to preserve, so we’re working hard to keep it up!
Thank you for sharing all of your excellent points – they help us grow and provide better service for our guests, and create a better travel experience altogether. We look forward to having you back again once the renovations are complete.

Warmest regards,
Brianna Salomon

This hotel is located across the street from the historic Fox Theator. Our suites were on the 17th floor, and we had good views of all of Atlanta. Most rooms are suites with bedroom, living room, kitcheon, 2 flat screen TVs- a very nice set-up. The hotel needs some updating and maintenance; but on the whole it was comfortable. My air conditioning did not work well so I was quite warm at night. The Livinston was a nice restaurant. I had excellent service and food at breakfast. The apple cured bacon was delicious. There is a pool on the roof and also a fitness center.. It appears to be a popular venue for showers and weddings.

I booked one of the small 400 sq ft rooms and it was wonderful - for one person. I had a desk to do paperwork and a nice lounging chair, both in a separate room from the bed, which was a nice surprise. The bath was large and comfy, too. The restaurant and room service were out of this world! I used the business center for internet use and it was very convenient, as well. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I will stay there next time I am in Atlanta.

Room Tip: I booked through Expedia-AARP for a great price.

I was a little disappointed in this hotel. Rooms and hotel in general were a little run down. The room had a washer/dryer in it and a kitchen though, so it was big. Nice rooftop pool and place to sit to look at the view of the city skyline. So overall okay place to stay, but don't go expecting a beautiful, grand old hotel.
