“Great location, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

We spent a night at this location while visiting Atlanta to see Rod Stewart in concert at Philips Arena. The Embassy Suites is easy to get to from nearby interstates and its location is ideal for downtown events; it's within walking distance of a number of attractions. Room was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the 5:30-7:30 happy hour with free beverages and snacks, plus the free breakfast next morning at Ruth Chris steakhouse located on the same property. Wide selection of tasty breakfast food was a cut above the usual complimentary fare. Hotel staff members were very friendly and helpful, answering questions about attractions and giving directions to keep us from getting lost. Plan to stay here again while visiting Atlanta attractions.

We stayed at the hotel during the AARP Life @ 50+ event earlier this month. Usually we can always count on Embassy Suites/Hilton to deliver a great stay, but sadly...not the case here! From the front desk to everyone we encountered (an exception, the staff serving at "happy hour" the 3 nights we were there), we weren't treated like our business even mattered. I personally didn't go into it looking for things to go wrong but after the first, say, 4 or 5 things...it got to be really upsetting! The phones in the living room and the bedroom area didn't work when we finally got into our room...we had to use our cell phone to call the desk to tell them the phones didn't work and that we were supposed to get water in our room for being Hilton Hhonors members (which wasn't a big deal...I knew that I could just go to the desk later to get them, but the phone...that was kinda important!). A repairman came to the room and "fixed" the phones...the one in the living area never really worked...it sounded worse than some awful drive thru window! The next morning we discovered our stool wouldn't flush...so we called down to tell them that. We left for the day and got back about 6 or so and discovered our room had been left open by whomever was in the room last...whether it was the repair person or the cleaning staff...we never knew. That really bothered me! They sent a security person up to take a report but no one followed up on it and nothing was said or done (until the next day when I had to go down regarding another matter). I could go on and on but although the hotel was in a great location for the conference...if I were going to stay in Atlanta again...it wouldn't be at this hotel and I would question the Hilton brand (after going down to the front desk the next evening regarding another matter, the person at the front desk really didn't have much to say about the things that had happened but did give us one half of one day's stay off our bill, but to me, that didn't make things right. Of course this was after having to call the front desk from my cell phone again while my husband was in the room listening to it ring to the front desk for over 100 rings...my cell phone rang to the front desk for over three and a half minutes). Would've loved to have rated it higher, but can't.

Everyone was friendly and helpful--great customer service from front desk to housekeeping, bellmen to restaurants. Security was visible and watchful. Great breakfasts, super happy hour. Rooms clean and safe.

Stayed at the hotel during AARP Life @ 50+ Convention. At check-in, the sfaff was very pleasant and we got our room in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, I must point out there was some strange mass which appeared on our curtain. Be careful if you get this room (#807) look for the gluey mass stuck to the curtain near the bed by the window. This section of the curtain really needs to be sent out for cleaning or disguarded if the mass does not come out. Other than that, the room was very spacious, The beds are extremely comfortable.
Now if you happen to be a smoker and need to go outside in the smoking area, good luck! For the days we were there, the night crew must NOT have done work (on the outside). Why was this say? Simply 'cause in the morning all the cigs butts and ashes from the night before were still there the next day. Also, we noticed the flooring inside one of the elevators was extremely filthy (all muddy looking). You'd think this hotel being in the downtown area would be kept up to par.
Happy hour they don't do mix drinks; otherwise, there's plenty of time to get your drink on (lol).
As for the breakfast, it's served by Ruth Chris (which is a restaurant inside the hotel). Although Ruth Chris has great reviews, personally, we were very disappointed with their food. The muffins were still cold as if they just took 'em out the fridge; the bacon had so much grease still on it; appears they forgot to drain it before serving. And there was enough grease to oil one's hair (lol). Well, I can go on and on but I won't. Guess you have to find out for yourself . . . everybody's taste buds are different.

I will say this: In the past, I've stayed at many Embassy Suite Hotels before and when they do their own cooking of the "free" food it has been awesome!!! I truly would liked to have rated this particular hotel highly but it just didn't fare.

This is a beautiful, generous hotel perfectly located in a fantastic, dynamic city - a wonderful place to be. Public transportation is convenient, easy to use and inexpensive. A four day bus pass was $20. The train from the airport took me within blocks of the hotel for $3. There are many beautiful parks in Atlanta. I plan to visit again because there is more to see. I felt safe. The residents of Atlanta were helpful, friendly, enthusiastic and very proud of their city.

My wife and I stayed here for four nights during the AARP Life @ 50+ conference. Check-in was a breeze. The room was spotless. It consisted of 2 rooms (bedroom and living room / office combo) plus a bath. There was plenty of space. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The sofa in the living room converted into a bed (which we did not need). The closet and storage chests were plenty large enough. There was a half-size fridge, a microwave, and a good 1-2 cup drip coffee maker with good coffee. There were plenty of power outlets for our computers, iPhones, Blackberry and iPad. Wired internet access carries an extra charge, unless you are HHonors Gold or Diamond. There is free WiFi in the common areas.

Hint: One side of the building overlooks Centennial Olympic Park and also offers great views of downtown. Best views are from upper floors on that side of the building (the same side as Ruth Chris).

A free breakfast is served in the attached Ruth Chris steakhouse. It's more like a Sunday brunch with plenty of selection from fresh fruit, to oatmeal, to make-to-order omelets, grits, breakfast metas, pancakes, etc. Room service is available from Ruth Chris at lunch and dinner! The Park Avenue Deli is also a good choice. It'd in the same physical building but requires access from the street. There are many other great restaurants within a block or two, such as Legal Seafoods, McCormick & Schmidt's, etc.

Valet parking ($30/day) is efficient, effective and highly recommended. We had no need for our car. Everything was close by. The entrance to the GWCC is about 1 1 -2 block walk, but they're building a new entrance immediately across the street.

The bottom line is that we were very comfortable at this hotel. Our meeting and amenities were close by. And the view was spectacular.

Room Tip: Upper floors facing Centennial Olympic Park.
