“Average Hotel-Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you are visiting downtown Atlanta, the Embassy Suites Centennial Park is a fair choice. We had a standard suite room which was a decent size, but compared to other hotels I've stayed at I would classify it as a three star room/hotel. The room had a run down feel to it. As though it hadn't been updated in 15-20 years. Holiday Inn/Comfort Inn quaility comes to mind. Breakfast if a full buffet. The food is the same as the Hampton Inn's with an omellete station added. My daughter's and I find it barely edible compared to home cooked food.

Rooftop pool was adequate, staff is accomodating and friendly.

A note if you are renting a car from Hertz which they tell you is located in the lobby of the hotel. Out of three nights not once did I see any representative from the company. When I called them to inquire as I was picking my car up the last day of our stay, I found out they had changed locations "due to computer problems". I had a lot of luggage and travelling without any other adults and two kids, so when I asked them to pick me up they did, but they were an hour late.

The Embassy Suites at Centennial Olympic Park is located alongside the Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta, essentially next door to CNN, The World of Coke, and the Georgia Aquarium. It is very close to several other major attractions as well.

The lobby is well appointed, from the incredible 6-story high whale sculpture created from thousands of small fish attached to wires; to a beautiful courtyard. The Front Desk staff is well-trained, courteous, and works hard to be responsive. We had several issues that arose during our stay, and each time the desk staff was successful in dispatching personnel to attempt to resolve them in only a few minutes.

Attention to detail, however, suffers in the rooms and maintenance. In our five-day stay, the carpets were not vacuumed once (not in the rooms or hallways); housekeeping failed to notice two major appliances were not functioning prior to our arrival, and it was 3 days and several troubleshooting attempts later before they were fixed. In addition, the Hilton Honors amenities were only partially left -- stocking appears to have been interrupted and was never completed. Dirty towels were not removed from the room each day, though new ones were left. By day five, this resulted in a pile of several towels in a corner of the living room. The ice bucket was not cleaned each morning...though a fresh plastic bag would be left behind. This was hard to communicate to the housekeeping staff, as those who serviced our floor did not speak English.

Attention to detail issues also pervaded the pool area. While the pool was well maintained, the hot tub (while kept hot) was allowed to fall well below proper water levels. The result is that your muscle pains were confined to one's tail bone, the water would come up to that level. Woe be it if you have back problems, as the water level did not reach even the lumbar parts of the spine. The water was a bit cloudy, and the level was far too low to run through the hot tub's filtration system, which might explain the appearance and odor. Pool towels ran out at times, and no staff were present to notice or replenish them.

The Chefs at breakfast were very fast and exceptionally courteous, as was the staff at the manager's reception. The breakfast buffet was essentially a standard layout for an Embassy Suites, with a good variety of juices available. As for fresh fruit, it seems that in July, only honeydew melon is in season.

Valet parking staff were also courteous and efficient. They were very concerned about proper customer service and were well-trained in handling all possible customer needs. They were, quite possibly, the best valet staff I've seen in years.

In total, this review comes down to this. The hotel has all the appropriate amenities, and is in a good location. If you hit it at high season or during a major convention, you will pay dearly for the privilege of staying there (upwards of $500/night when parking and tax are included). This places the hotel in or above the price category for 5-star establishments such as the Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, and the Leading Hotels of the World. I have paid lower prices than this for an executive suite in some of these 5-star hotels in some of the world's most expensive cities, and for that price had a personal valet assigned to me around the clock. For prices this high, one should be able to expect flawless and doting service at every turn, luxury-level furniture, spa-quality toiletries, turn-down service with unfailing provisions of ice and chocolates on the beds...etc..... This hotel does simply does rise to that standard. The service is simply average...but at very high prices.

Overall, find a time to visit when the rates are at a discount, and you'll probably enjoy your stay. If your trip is in high season, you will easily find other establishments with much better prices with equal levels of service at a variety of other properties throughout the Atlanta metro area. They may be a little less convenient, and they may not have the beautiful view of Olympic Park, but they may also save you more than $300/night.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the Centennial Olympic Park will offer a great view of the Atlanta skyline, as...

I had never stayed at an Embassy Suites before, but the staff was very nice, the room was clean, and the beds comfortable. The hotel is located right accross the road from the park, and is in a good location for other are attractions.

I don't usually make reviews, but I use them all the time to decide where I stay or eat. That is why I feel obligated to make this review. After my stay at Embassy Suites Atlanta I will probably never stay at an Embassy Suites again. First, they did not have our reservations correct. We reserved two adjoining rooms for three nights. They had us listed as one room the first night and two rooms for the second and third night. They made us feel as if it was all out fault that the reservations were incorrect. The first day we were there they did not leave any clean towels in the rooms. the second day we were there they did not clean one of the rooms at all. When we checked in there was a spoon on the floor in the hall outside our room and it was still there when we left. Breakfast was minimal. Tables were left dirty and not serviced. When you pay more, you expect more. That said, the location was good, but there are several other hotels in the area that would probably give you better service.

Room Tip: Double check reservations to make sure they are what you expect.

I was surprised that this location opens directly up to the park! It was very nice to walk over there and get outside a little. The location is perfect. Rooms are typical Embassy Suite rooms. I enjoyed the Ruth Chris Steakhouse located in the hotel as well. Staff was great too.
There is road construction going on across the street from the hotel and traffic can back up winding around Cent Park.

Room Tip: Ask for a park view.

Great stay overall. We loved how convenient and close it was to the Aquarium and other points of interest. The hotel is very nice and inviting. Our room nice and clean. I do think parking was a but steep but seemed the case with some of the other hotels as well. The breakfast buffet was good even though it got really crowded..be sure to get there early.

We were very pleased with the service. Our room was very confortable. We are vendors at the America's Mart and attend this event twice a year. We appreciate the breakfast. It was wonderful. We will stay with you again at the next market.
