“Old + Smelly = Expensive?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

This hotel smells. Carpets are old, paint is old and the entire place smells. The room I reserved cost $75 per night and I was expecting at least an above average stay. Instead a received a Motel 6 quality experience which is not good considering the cost. Only benefit is that the hotel is not far from downtown and only about a 15 minute/$20 cab ride. Room was clean, but irrelevant because the cleanliness can not cover up the cigarette smoke odor present throughout the building. Front desk clerk was barley cordial and preferred to lean on the counter vs speak to my co-guests at eye level. Meh experience, terrible price.

We had been staying in $300-$400 a night luxury hotels in various cities across the south but for a variety of reasons ended up at La Quinta Atlanta Buckhead and thought it was a great value for the money.

Our room was clean and functional. Everything worked and there was plenty of parking.

Be aware that it is 5 miles from what I would normally call "Buckhead", at least from a tourist's point of view. Of course we saved a pile of money by driving those 5 miles to get to diner.

One issue we had, which I'm sure was not typical, was there was a strong smell of either a harsh cleaning product or maybe it was paint on the first floor. We were on the second and it was fine. On the plus side, it was part of a hotel improvement so bonus for those who follow.

I want to reiterate that the gentleman who checked us in was very nice, efficient and helpful for some advice about dinner.

The staff was by polite and professional. The only down checks would be the not fully functional front door and the thin walls (loud neighbors at times). However, at $68/night and right off the interstate, worth it.

I knew from the map that it is not in what we Southerners consider the Lenox/Buckhead area. The neighborhood was indeed sketchy! If I had been traveling alone I would have been asked to be moved from the ground floor to an upstairs room. I just was really not comfortable. I had my 22 year old son with me so it was not a problem.

The room and furnishings were average for an economy hotel. I think a little less that the last La Quinta I was in. The doors were all scratched badly and the water in the tub had a big drip. It was clean and the breakfast was good. The staff was very helpful. We were visiting Emory so it was a great location for that and far less money than anywhere else in that area.

One child got sick over it and i woke up several times about to vomit over smell and eyes are swollen!!! This place is not updated carpet is NASTY!!! Im used to cheap but this is a no go. Location is buy a highway but not in a safe feeling area. (hence their security guard im sure) it is now 7am and all i hear is fighting in hall! Get me outta here NOW and safe Lord!

The La Quinta at Buckhead was an average hotel. The Buckhead area is supposedly an upscale area of Atlanta, but this La Quinta did not reflect it. It was small with a tiny lobby and very basic room.
The hotel staff, however, was stellar. They were all extremely friendly and helpful.

Location has everything you come to expect at hotels. Nice clean rooms, free breakfast, business center and more. The location is hard to find but once you find it everything you want is within a mile or two. Great property, great staff, great location.
