“Great venue - Arrive early and take it in before a show”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2010

What a great theater! After reading much positive info about the Fox, we bought tickets to see "South Pacific" during a recent weekend trip. The show was great, but the facility is really something to see unto itself. Arrive early to look around. The organist was playing it up for the crowd before the show. The ceiling resembles a starry-night sky with gently-moving clouds and twinkling stars. While are seats were decent, it was a little cramped after a long show. The lines for the restrooms at intermission were unreal... but that's a large theater for you. The North Ave. MARTA station is just 2 blocks away, so try that out rather than fight the crowds driving and parking. Another tip: arrive early and have a bite to eat at one of the many nearby restaurants before a show. The stroll to the theater seemed like a big city premier with well-dressed patrons walking along under the big glittering marquis.

“My favorite theater”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2009

Living in Atlanta, i have frequented the Fox seveal times. it's a beautiful theater located by a MARTA train station and several restaurants. The accoustics are excellent, and the theater brings in big musicals (Wicked, Chicago, Color Purple, etc) along with comedians and other acts.

“Love This Theater!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2009

Love the Fox for the architecture, atmosphere, friendly staff, and the "Mighty Mo" organ that plays before each performance.

Tips:

Recommend Loge seating if available (1st six rows in Balcony). Good view, and the seats are well cushioned and roomy.

If you can pick your day, Sundays performances are great due to much less traffic downtown and easier access to parking.

There is a lot just south of the Fox on corner of Ponce De Leon & Peachtree that is $15 on Sunday, just enter your parking spot in the "teller machine" at the kiosk, pay with a credit card and put the receipt on the dash.

About 20 steps south of the same parking lot on Peachtree St is the Broadway Diner which is a good choice for a meal before the show. Friendly service, large food selection. Reminds me of a "NY type" old time diner.

After the show there are doors out of the Fox that open on to Ponce De Leon and you can be to your car literally two or three minutes after curtain if you need a quick getaway.

Enjoy!

“Great Venue for an Awesome Show!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2009

We recently attended the Denis Leary Rescue Me Comedy Tour at the Historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. The Show was Excellent, the Theatre reminiscent of another historic theatre in my hometown. The service (ushers/staff) was courteous and helpful. We sat in the "pit" and couldn't ask for better seats. Would recommend for this type of show.

“Take a tour of this place -- it's spectacular”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2008

The Atlanta Preservation Center gives tours of this theater (and other places) for $10 and it is so worth it. Info at:

http://preserveatlanta.com/walkingtours.htm#Fox%20Theatre

The Fox is much more than "a nice old theater". The interior is a serious of optical illusions (not the least of which is a ceiling in the theater that has a blue sky and clouds that move across the sky as well as twinkling stars). I don't want to give away too much except to say that you truly enter "a different world and a different time" when you walk inside of this theater and be aware that what you THINK you are looking at is something else entirely. Example: "awnings seemingly made of 'canvas' that are actually made of cement!". You don't want to miss this place!
