“Fox theatre- nice but tour was not eluminating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

I loved the theater itself but did not learn anything new on the tour that I did not already know. The women who gave the tour was pleasant but was not incredibly knowledgeable about the theater or history of Atlanta itself. Just was great to get inside and see the wonderful original fixtures and furniture.

“Must see! Architectural gem - take the tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

Unfortunately there were no events or shows at the theater while we were in town, However we were fortunate that the Fox offers tours on Mondays and Thursdays. tours are around $18 a piece for about one hour. Seeing this theater from the outside simply does not do justice as this is an architectural wonder and gem! It was built in the late 20's and opened Christmas Day in 1929. The building has been beautifully restored and kept up. The Egyptian / Arabic design is unique (originally built for the Shriners) you will definitely appreciate this building. A must see while in atlanta!

“Venue or Tour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

The tour of the old theater backstage is a real step back in time. The organ is the star attraction, but as a venue, the acoustics are awful and the seats extremely uncomfortable. Try watching Lawrence of Arabia for 4 hours without cramping up.

“The Old World Beauty of the Fox Theater”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

The Fox Theater is luxuriously beautiful. Lights, thick royal carpeting, and deep, rich mahogany paneling makes The Fox shine like visiting a palace. The idea of going out to "the theater" is serious when you choose to go to any type of performance at the Fox. So, dress up and enjoy it. If you drink, plan to have a cocktail during intermission -- it just sweetens your overall experience.
