“Unique string of shops, restaurants”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

The Highlands consists of 3 clusters of interesting places separated by short stretches of older residential areas. You may want to drive between them; parking is on-street and can become difficult during events, but it's worth the visit. The shops are small and interesting and it's a pedestrian friendly area.

“Our first visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We will definitely go back! We enjoyed looking at the eclectic shops in a neighborhood type setting. Some high end, some exotic and some were antique shops. We shopped and stopped to eat at the oldest tavern in Atlanta and it was top notch! Different food items and great service. Parking costs $2 for an hour at the meters on the street.

“Fun Times”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

I like driving into VH and parking the car and just bar/restaurant hoping. If you come early there are some great boutiques and neat things to see... VH has some mom and pop restaurants which are like hidden gems and the people that hang around the area seem to be very friendly.

“No what it used to be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Virginia Highlands was the hip place to go in the 90s but then all the hop people moved there, grew up and turned it into an "in-town" suburbia. Still some good place but far more sanitized than it was

“great for a stoll and look around the shops.”

and when you're ready for a bite, there's a slew of restaurants to choose from. Parking is not great, but the side-streets will do.
