My wife and I have been members of the Fernbank Natural Science Museum for the past three years so we can view the special exhibits more than once and so we can take the grandchildren to see such exhibits as Christmas trees of the world. Although Fernbank is not a world class science museum, the special exhibits are usually worth the price of admission and the skeletons off Argentinosaurus and Giganotosaurus are amazing. We were even lucky enough to eat a picnic lunch with the grandchildren under the head of Argentinosaurus. The youngest grandchild enjoys the NatureQuest area and the oldest is learning from Sensing Nature. We enjoy the live reptile shows just as much as the grandchildren. We’ve seen two special exhibits this year: Genghis Khan and Extreme Animals. I don’t think Fernbank is a major tourist attraction, but everyone in the metro Atlanta area with children or grandchildren would enjoy an afternoon going through the permanent exhibits, especially those featuring archaeological work in Georgia, as well as viewing whatever special exhibit is being shown. There is a lot to see.
