Owner description: Over the next year, we will be expanding and improving the main museum entrance and admissions area, including the addition of a new cafe and gift shop, all set to open Summer 2015. In the meantime, history is still happening here! During construction: The West Paces Ferry Road entrance will be closed to vehicular traffic. Guests should enter the History Center from Andrews Drive (3299 Andrews Drive NW). The admissions desk and museum gift shop will be temporarily located inside McElreath Hall. The AHC's exhibits, historic houses, and gardens will remain open 7 days a week, and our monthly programming will continue as usual during construction. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the Atlanta History Center. The Atlanta History Museum is located at the Atlanta History Center. The Atlanta History Center also features the Swan House mansion, Smith Family Farm, the Margaret Mitchell House, the Centennial Olympic Games Museum, and five permanent exhibitions.

“Good View of Atlanta”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The museum gives you a lot of information on Atlanta and how it grew. Was a little disappointed in the Swan house, but it's included in admission price. Parking is free.

“Get There Early”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

There is a lot to see there, so get there early. You can access it with the Atlanta City Pass, or pay separately. If you don't have a car (they have free parking), you can access the Atlanta History Center via the MARTA and a short bus ride from the station.

“So much to see....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

Museum, tour of both the Swan House (Hunger Games filmed in it) and the Smith house...excellent! Tour guides know their stuff...very entertaining...the grounds were beautiful and well kept.Tullie Smith house was unique and employees dressed in clothes of the era were great..especially the carpenter making furniture! Well worth the money!

“Wished we could have spent more time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

We only had a few hours to spend here, but could have easily spent a day. The displays were outstanding. We especially liked the Civil War area. There are several other buildings to tour, including a historic farm and the Swan House. (They had just finished filming part of Hunger Games 2 in one room, so it made the beautiful old house even more interesting.) One entrance fee covered the extra buildings and gardens.

“A bit let down...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

This was a bit of a letdown to me actually. I was expecting a lot more, and while the Atlanta Olympics section was pretty neat, I came to take pictures of the Swan House. The pictures of the Swan house that I wanted I couldn’t get because “turf restoration” was in progress, so no walking on the grass. Then we went on a tour of the Smith Family Farm which was pretty interesting but I was still upset about the turf restoration. I would consider this a must stop if you are very into history and such, but for a casual observer I would say you could skip this.
