I am not a B&B person. I am practically allergic to floral bedding, chintzy decorations and four-poster beds. In this regard, the Woodstocker truly lives up to its billing as a cozy, but contemporary inn, "like going back to your parents' house, but your parents aren't there." As I sat in the dining area eating my delicious eggs scrambled, pork and maple sausage (which you must try) and roasted tomatoes, and looked out at the snowy backyard, it truly felt like I was in my parents' home, but with better coffee (Bodum French Press!).
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Westminister on the second floor. The room is bright and spacious. The bed was enormous and absurdly comfortable. The bathroom is stunning, with the twin bathtubs -- perfect after a day of tumbling down the slopes at Killington (a mere 15 min. drive). My only criticism is that there were too many different light settings that I could not get a handle on (but maybe that's my problem).
It is obvious that the owners/hosts, Dora, David and Stanley had a clear vision of what they wanted to build, and have put a lot of care into every detail. They are accessible, friendly, interesting, and inspirational.
Indeed, my only regret is that we could only stay for 2 nights. But, even as we were packing up for the long drive back to New York City, I was already thinking of when I could come again to curl up in the Inn's enviable library with a stack of books, a cup of tea, and some tasty homemade fruitcake.
