Our room was beautifully appointed, comfortable and meticulous. Breakfast and hosts were great.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2010

I was a little dismayed as we were led to our room in an extension behind the historic old house but I needn't have worried. The room was well decorated and very spacious with a large 4 poster bed, so high that steps were provided to aid the climb into bed! There was a flame effect gas log fire and two comfortable armchairs which gave the room a nice cosy feel on the cold October evenings we were there. In the bathroom was a large jaccuzi bath and shower and lots of good quality toiletries and thick towells. Our hosts Dixi and Willa were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was taken in elegant surroundings at a large polished table with fellow guests providing a good opportunity for conversation. When we were presented with breakfast our first thought was "I'll never eat all that' - but we did. It was absolutely delicious - a selection of fresh fruit, a freshly baked souffled pancake with peaches, maple syrup and crispy bacon and a home made muffin plus plenty of coffee and fruit juice. We had an equally delicious but different freshly cooked breakfast on our second morning. The time spent around that breakfast table remain a highlight of our holiday.

The Charleston House was so elegant and charming. The innkeepers made us feel so welcome and made sure all of our needs were met. Breakfast each morning was in their formal dining room which was amazing - and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. The location of the inn was within easy walking distance to Woodstock. Would definitely stay here again.

Breakfasts were wonderful, complete with an always-full cup of good coffee! Willa even shared an outstanding puff pancake recipe. I was upgraded to a great suite, which was always clean and well-stocked. The owners/innkeepers were fantastic - so accommodating and genuinely nice people. The location is perfect - just a few steps to great coffee shops and the village, and close to the National Park. Comfortable room with all the amenities and so much antique charm. Great overall, and I would stay here again for sure.

The room with two twin beds was very comfortable. The shower had great water pressure and the towels might be the thickest I've ever seen. The innkeepers were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good; instead of serving between certain hours there are two seatings and you're asked beforehand to choose which you prefer. We had tomato quiche, fresh fruit, blueberry muffing and sausage with fresh orange juice and coffee.
You could easily leave your car in their lot and walk to all of the stores and restaurants on the towns mainstreet.
The only thing I wasn't thrilled about is there are no keys for the rooms. The doors can be locked from the inside when you're in them but not when you're out. I hadn't seen this before and it probably works out fine for that area (I hadn't seen this in other B&B's and I guess coming from an urban area it's a little hard to get used to not double locking everything).
In all though I would stay here again.

beautiful room, i was upgraded to a suite, but peeked in other rooms
and they were all exceptional. the website doesn't do this place
justice. walking around town, i felt this was the nicest place to stay if you
do not choose the inn. woodstock is a very upscale village, where you
expect to meet martha stewart at the other end of the covered bridtge.
the innkeepers were very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful.
i have stayed at many b&b's and this one is top knotch.
