We'd dined here about 2 years ago and found it wonderful. In fact at that time i believe we returned 2 more times in the same week. This time we dined there two more time which was early jan. 2008 and we found the food just so so. I had the house salad both times. First night fairly good sized portion. Second night huge portion. The house salad of cranberry and apples is quite nice. My kids asked for chicken fingers (they are 13 and 16). They were not listed on the regular menu and that's quite fine but the problem in on the regular menu there is absolutely minimal middle of the road stuff. The menu is appetizers/entrees/ and then 2 types of cheeseburger and a veggie burger. There is an evident absence of in between food. The corn chowder was very good but i got the beef stew and it was served 'warm'. I should have returned it but i did not. instead I ate it and it was pretty good. Unfortunately i think it bothered my system a few hours later. Overall, i would say that the wait staff is pretty good but it gets busy so the attention you get is inversely proportional to the service. I would be curious what the locals think of this place because i think at this point it is more a tourist stop over than anything else.

I went for dinner on Columbus day weekend '07 with my wife and 2 kids. The place is dim and nice. We ordered soup and entrees. The clam chowder came in 1 minute, but the rest of the food food really really took a long time even though the order included simple stuff like a hot dog for my kids and a burger for me. Other tables that arrived later got served more elaborate dishes and finished. Once my order came, my medium rare burger was totally burnt. I cancelled the burger and asked for the rest of the food to go since the kids were really irritable after such a long time in the restaurant.. To be fair, the manager apologized due to the large volume of business from the long weekend and offered to take care of the tab. I asked him to give me the orders to and cancel only the burger and I paid for tab Once in the car, we noticed that the lid of the shrimp that my wife ordered was not tightly closed and it spread the buttery sauce over the other food and made a total mess.

After spending a wonderful day in and around Woodstock/Quechee, myself and three others were planning on having a really nice dinner right in the center of town at Bentley's. We were sorely mistaken. First of all, I asked the waiter if I could please substitute potato for pasta. I was told that the kitchen staff would find that very weird. I ordered chicken picatta, which came with pasta, I thought it would be an easy exchange. Anyway, they gave me the potato, along with a bowl of chicken pieces and broccoli floating in grease. There were no capers, and the chicken was not even lightly breaded. We all ordered entres and never received any bread. My husband and another friend ordered the duck, which they said was OK, but the portion was extremely small for the price, and the rice that came with it definitely came out of a box. All in all it was a very unenjoyable meal, for a very high price!

the crab cakes were tiny and not worth the effort. Asked for bread and the waitress looked at me like i was nuts or something. a glass of Merlot wine, $8.00, and not worth it. he fish soup was good, however.

Charming and well-run establishment located in a old bank building right in the center of Woodstock. Have been here twice for lunch, and was very pleased both times.

Food is carefully prepared and fresh, and the portions are large. My turkey wrap came in a large, very fresh spinach tortilla, with fresh tomatoes, fresh crumbled bacon, garlic mayonnaise and real roasted turkey (judging by the size of the pieces, it looked to be recently taken from right off the bone). Served with fresh, hand-made cole slaw -- really too much to finish. Prices may seem a tad higher than your average place (for lunch), but an excellent value for the money - I paid around $11.50 for my meal, a Diet Coke (served with a lemon, without my asking) and a refill (for which they didn't charge me) plus the tax.

Serviceable wine list with many wines by the glass, and friendly, efficient service both times.

Eclectic setting with many different sized tables on multiple levels make it a nice spot for dining with a spouse/friend, alone, or with a group. There's also a sprawling wooden bar at the front of the restaurant.

Hope to visit for dinner sometime soon.
