I'd heard a lot of things about this restaurant. In my experience, this area of Vermont is filled with great restaurants serving great local food. I really and truly wanted to love this place, but...
First - the good: The setting was lovely. We had a table on the porch on a cool summer evening. We had hummingbirds, chipmunks, etc. It was a BEAUTIFUL restaurant in a quiet country setting. EVERYONE there was INCREDIBLY sweet and kind. The staff was very caring and the service was fantastic.
Now - the mediocre: The food. Sadly, the food was really only okay. Mostly bland, not much pop. We ordered the house made potato chips. They were overdone, cold and had no seasoning whatsoever. I had the tofu stir fry. It was fresh, the veggies were nice, but there was no pop or outstanding flavor to the dish. My wife had the veggie burger. The burger was actually pretty good, but the bun seemed almost store bought. The fries were cold, not crisp, and unseasoned.
If this place were less expensive, I would recommend going for the ambiance alone which is REALLY great. Unfortunately, dinner for my family of four with a very modest bottle of wine was 120. That's a bit much for good ambiance IMHO.
