“What a treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2008

This is a wonderful little find. The Alabardero is a boutique style hotel with moorish decor and only 22 rooms. It is a peaceful oasis with small gardens and a lovely pool. It is only 10 minutes from Porto Banus (by car) and 20 minutes to Marbella itself). You would need to use car or taxi to get around,

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for children at all unless you are prepared to be with them all the time.

The food in the restaurant was superb but expensive, a trip to Porto Banus where the selection of restaurants are in abundance and in all price ranges is well worthwhile.

This hotel was was excellent value B&B (mid week) and we would certainly stay there again.

Stayed September 2008

We went for a couple of days to this hotel and we loved it. It seemed to us one of those big villas previously owned by some Arab (there are many in this part of Spain). This hotel (and catering school too) only has 22 rooms, it is tastefully decorated in arab style, but I have to say some of the areas in the hotel need a good make over. We didn´t eat a this hotel, but it seems like lots of people come from all over the coast just to eat there.
I would definitely go again, specially considering the offer they have for the month of September.

We booked in to the above resort hotel on a recomendation as some where close to the marbella, but away from the madding crowd. We checked in at around 4pm after lunch with friends looking forward to a quiet siesta by the pool . Unfortunately the hotel was hosting a large spanish communion party. As the hotel has a separate function area this was not a problem however the hotel had errected a bouncing castle for the 25 or so children attending the party about 20m from the swimming pool and sun area. We complained to the recepcionist and asked for the manager who was un-available, we were told they were only children having fun!!
The next morning we were woken by the remainder of the party enjoying them-selves in the jacuzzi, again the staff seemed astonished that we should complain at the noice at 7 am on a sunday morning.

Our room was also tired looking with the handles in the bath falling off and a
strange towels rail at head height above the bath which meant you couldnt lie back in the bath.

If you decide to go check they are not having a party at the hotel and also ask to see the room first

There are much better deals to be done nearer the coast the hotel is tired and living on its past reputation
