As a group of 4 (2 couples - 2 men golfers) we stayed at this hotel from 13/7 for a week. Dont bother going cancel your booking. Upon arrival - no porter we all had to struggle with our luggage then finally found trolleys. Reception staff do not give your their full attention, you are speaking to them and they answer the phone/talk to other people waiting at the desk or go off and do something on the pc, rude. We were recommended to go to this hotel by our golf company as they told us it was fab!!! I should have trusted my instincts, it was awful. The Junior Suite we booked with a PRIVATE terrace was in fact a room with a small sitting area and a walk through overlooking a car park (this was classed as the terrace) so we had regular noise from cars coming and going at all times. The housekeeping is a laugh, they dont clean your rooms until sometimes as late as 5pm, they give you one towel each and if you ring them for more you finally get another one 24 hours later, they dont replenish the toilet rolls, when you ring them they finally bring them 2 - 3 hours later, so we had to go to the reception toilets and take those! They leave dirty coffee cups/plastic glasses in your rooms for days, we moved them to the window ledge outside, 3 days later still sitting there. It seems the same woman cleans all of the rooms in the hotel. The hotel pool (one at bottom of the hotel) seems to close when they feel like it, they put up signs round the pool one morning saying pool shut, nobody working in or around pool, the signs were out until approx 1pm, twice this happened - not quite sure why? None of the hotels facilities are open, only the Spa and the Pool Bar and the breakfast room which also serves meals in the evening for HB guests (dont bother eating in here, it is awful, the service is terrible if you can find a member of staff that is). The breakfast room (as this is what it is....) has hardly any choice for breakfast, there is lots of bread but beware the birds come in and peck away at it all of the time. The coffee machine normally worked for a little while then it broke, so someone had to go off and find a staff member, the juice machine had glasses by the side that had flies in them. There was hardly any choice, and most of it had been hours before it was served, the breakfast cereal was in a long plastic tub things that had sellotape on top of one of them, the cereal looked so old like it had been there for days, I had some the first day and that was it.There were no other bars open in the hotel apart from the pool bar, and in the evening when you want to go and have a drink, drinking from a plastic cup in the evening doesnt really do it for me (especially when the prices are so high - 1 pint of lager is 5 euros.....) The Spa treatments I had were ok, but it does seem to be one young girl who is the only one working and she doesnt speak english.
If you want to go into the village you can walk, or get a cab and the best restaurant is in the centre with all of the tables outside (these get booked up in advance) but if you eat inside there is air -con and it is non smoking, the food is excellent and the service is good, just wish we had found out about this restaurant on the first night, we would not have eaten anywhere else. Do not go to Chez Robert, the food is awful even if on the night we choose ladies eat free..... I could go on about this awful hotel, and if you want to contact me please do..... I do have photos I could email to you, I have not had a chance to add them on.
