My wife and I stayed in one of Colina Del Paradiso's 12 Penthouses with 1 other couple in September 2011. We had a pretty good holiday but I wouldn't return. Nothing was terrible but everything had niggles that made for a less than satisfactory experience.
Bedrooms/Bathrooms: The Penthouse slept 6 comfortably so we found there to be more than enough room for the 4 of us. I think even with 6 people there would have been plenty of room due to the 3 bathrooms (2 large, 1 small). There were 3 bedrooms, all capable of being doubles or twins and 2 of which were on suite. The bathrooms were clean although because the penthouse backed onto the road and were directly above the rubbish bins we couldn't open the windows due to the numerous flies and the smell. There were no electric razor charging points in the bathrooms which I found to be a problem. There was a TV in the lounge but we couldn't tune any channels.
BBQ: The biggest let down of the holiday for us was the lack of BBQ. On a summer holiday we tend to spend all our meals socialising while cooking around a BBQ. When we booked the description and photos did include a BBQ although this has since been removed. The staff got quite irate at our requests and offered to sell us small (very small) disposable BBQs which were less than useless and couldn't cook anything. Eventually a small electric grill was provided, which apparently used to be available in all penthouses until the became broken. This grill was the only 1 left for the whole complex and apparently they weren't going to be getting any more.
Kitchen: The kitchen was a good size and clean. The occupancy number was taken a little too literally as there were only 6 items of each of the glasses, china, cutlery. 6 knives and 6 forks is clearly not enough and this mean't washing up was an annoyingly frequent activity. The oven was very clean which was nice although we did have to ask for a grill tray when none was provided.
Outside: In September we found the Penthouse was essential if you wanted to get any sun. The resort is quite tall and the garden area quite narrow so the sun was blocked from almost the entire area until early afternoon. We did all our sun bathing on the roof top terrace. The roof top pool was very cold (also being blocked from the sun) and I found it to be unusable. The communal garden areas and main pools were nice enough although there was a little flooding and a little too much mud around the pools (staff were in the process of replanting grass to help resolve this).
Activities: We quickly learned that "Full use of on site activities" doesn't mean free use. Pool/Billards was €1 per game, darts (plastic electronic version) €0.5, tennis courts were free to book but racket hire is €1 per racket (balls are provided with racket hire). Everything stayed open till 11pm which is good for the flood lit tennis courts but seems a little mean for the bar & pool table. The bar had Sky and will play sports on request. I don't know if it was the time of year but at 10:50 each evening the games room was locked up, which doesn't leave room for much fun when everything else is a drive away.
Location: We didn't find it as hard to find Colina Del Paradiso as some other reviews imply. If you leave the A-7 at the exit for Canceleda then there are small signs on the majority of round-abouts from there. It is less than a 5 minutes drive from the exit.
Supermarket: A big benefit of this resort is the local supermarket "merciadona" which is located just off the A-7 exit and should be unmissable. Pretty much everything you would need is available and it is a good bit cheaper than some of the larger supermarkets in Peurto Banus or Espona.
Parking: A car is essential. I was a little annoyed that the penthouse parking was outside the complex and on the road. No space is guaranteed so if you turn up at the wrong time of day you will need to park inside the resort and could have quite a walk up and down stairs (not good if you have shopping).
Wifi: There was free wifi for guests but it was on a token basis where you had to request a new password per device every couple of days. The password had to be entered every time you connected and was not memorable - this made using iPhones etc extremely difficult.
