“One of our best holidays”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

We had a fantastic 5 night stay at Fuegoblanco with Sarah and Kenneth. As hosts they were very warm, welcoming people whose company we enjoyed. Nothing was too much trouble – even getting up and giving us breakfast before our early flight home.

We arrived very late at night (around 11pm) and thanks to their directions (sent the week before) found Fuegoblanco without a problem (or a torch!). We stayed in the suite – with lounge, bathroom and balcony. There's also a separate area for all guests with free teas and coffees and a fridge stocked with drinks (payable via an honesty box), guidebooks, a small library and drinking-water basin.

Sarah and Kenneth gave us the benefit of their extensive local knowledge of the area – maps, restaurants, best places to park and this gave us basis for our trips round the local area – all well worth a visit – via train into Malaga old city and beach (approx. 35 mins), leaving the car at the train station; Antequera, about an hour by car (a beauitful old town in the hills with a citadel); the Lobo (Wolf) Park (on the way and 10km from Antequera); El Chorro gorge and the lakes.

The rest of our time was spent pool side.

Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We ate a delicious three course meal on our first night – with my wife being vegetarian she was very well catered for.

Tips on where to eat were also very helpful as it can be difficult to eat in Spain as a veggie.
Of the five, Sarah and Kenneth recommended in Malaga we went to the excellent El Calafate (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187438-d1746451-Reviews-El_Calafate-Malaga_Costa_del_Sol_Andalucia.html) and ate the three course €9 menu del dia.

For eating in Alora we went to the recommended El gallego – just a bar on Calle Vera Cruz where the Mauritian Anna cooked us an excellent vegetarian curry one night and a vegetarian moussaka for the second! She also cooks excellent non-veggie!

All in all we had a fantastic time and would like to thank our hosts for their hospitality.

The approach to FuegoBlanco is a little foreboding with the country lane petering out just beyond a railway bridge with not so welcoming gates at its end. That said, the welcome once inside was very warm, with Sarah and Kenneth greeting us almost before we could get out of the car. The house is absolutely beautiful, set in spacious grounds, with citrus trees growing all around.

Sarah and Kenneth have clearly put a lot of effort into developing the house and no detail seems to have been left to chance. Our room was very comfortable with all mod cons including air con and TV. The free coffee in the lounge and an honesty box for cold beers and soft drinks at reasonable prices worked well for us.

We decided to eat in most nights and were very grateful for the home cooked meals accompanied by home grown fruit and veg, served in such a beautiful relaxing setting. I would certainly recommend them.

If you just want to chill out in a fabulous countryside setting then Fuegoblanco should suit you. I couldn't really fault it. Even the pool is a good size and allows for a little swim as well as a splash to cool off. We certainly enjoyed it as the heat in August is fierce.

That said, the highlight of our stay was the attention we received from our hosts, and the advice and recommendations they gave us regarding local walks and days out. Although it was extremely hot, we managed to do some great walks locally, and also took the car to the lakes and gorge at El Chorro where you can get some great walking in, and then finish off with a swim in the lake and a meal at the lakeside restaurants.

Fuegoblanco is close to the town of Alora with all the facilities of a modern town, but visitors looking for tourist attractions and quality restaurants will be a bit disappointed.

Many thanks to Sarah and Kenneth. We had a wonderful time in Fuegoblanco and would certainly recommend it for those seeking a comfortable, quiet retreat with access to the lovely Andalucian countryside.

It was lovely to be greeted at the front door by Sarah who was always attentive from there on in to our every needs. Both Sarah and Kenneth have created a magical spot where you can either relax by the pool or go off on your adventures to Lakes and mountains with the help of their numerous maps and excellent suggestions to make your days out even better.
The food was great and, for a long time vegetarian, a huge relief not to have to worry about what was on the menu!
A delightful, clean and peaceful place to stay with lovely , easy going hosts.
We look forward to going back someday!

Room Tip: The family suite is fab, spacious with a balcony.

We had a fantastic 24 hours at Fuego Blanco for the first night/day of our holiday. This meant we could sample dinner, breakfast and lunch. The food was just what we wanted, even my vegan daughter was perfectly catered for. The setting was beautiful and we had time to sit around the pool and relax. Sarah and Kenneth were excellent hosts and ensured we had everything we needed. Recommended.

Directions from the airport were spot on and the place easy to find. We were welcomed by our genial hosts Sarah and Kenneth with a lovley and plentiful meal, just what we needed after our flight across. This was our first lunch of many to follow, on the terrace amongst the lemon grove - a peaceful spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner or a peaceful evening tipple. Our hosts were very knowledgeable about the area and had loads of ideas for trips out. For those of us who can't live without WIFI, there is a fantastic connection with easy access.
We spent time in the pool area which is lovley and secluded with full sun all day and for those like us, nice shaded areas with relaxing furniture to while the hours away.
Our room had all that we needed with a view and a balcony. The aircon was a godsend and very effective.
Sarah was a fantastic cook, with plentiful supplies being availabe to devour in beautiful surroundings. The walk down to the river through the lemons was a nice way to round off an evening as the sun sets. Fuegoblanco is a place to return to time and time again.

Room Tip: The suite has views on three sides and a balcony. All rooms are ensuite and immaculate.

Fuegoblanco is a Welcoming Accommodation, with lovely roomy on-suit bedrooms. Very peaceful situated where you wake with the song of birds and the scent of orange and lemon blossom.
Ken and Sarah are very welcoming hosts who care about the guests comfort and needs.
Vegetarian, wheat and dairy free diet is no problem to them. In the cold evenings we sat around the lovely warm stove and on the warm sunny day relaxing by the pool. Betsy
