We had a fantastic 5 night stay at Fuegoblanco with Sarah and Kenneth. As hosts they were very warm, welcoming people whose company we enjoyed. Nothing was too much trouble – even getting up and giving us breakfast before our early flight home.
We arrived very late at night (around 11pm) and thanks to their directions (sent the week before) found Fuegoblanco without a problem (or a torch!). We stayed in the suite – with lounge, bathroom and balcony. There's also a separate area for all guests with free teas and coffees and a fridge stocked with drinks (payable via an honesty box), guidebooks, a small library and drinking-water basin.
Sarah and Kenneth gave us the benefit of their extensive local knowledge of the area – maps, restaurants, best places to park and this gave us basis for our trips round the local area – all well worth a visit – via train into Malaga old city and beach (approx. 35 mins), leaving the car at the train station; Antequera, about an hour by car (a beauitful old town in the hills with a citadel); the Lobo (Wolf) Park (on the way and 10km from Antequera); El Chorro gorge and the lakes.
The rest of our time was spent pool side.
Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We ate a delicious three course meal on our first night – with my wife being vegetarian she was very well catered for.
Tips on where to eat were also very helpful as it can be difficult to eat in Spain as a veggie.
Of the five, Sarah and Kenneth recommended in Malaga we went to the excellent El Calafate (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187438-d1746451-Reviews-El_Calafate-Malaga_Costa_del_Sol_Andalucia.html) and ate the three course €9 menu del dia.
For eating in Alora we went to the recommended El gallego – just a bar on Calle Vera Cruz where the Mauritian Anna cooked us an excellent vegetarian curry one night and a vegetarian moussaka for the second! She also cooks excellent non-veggie!
All in all we had a fantastic time and would like to thank our hosts for their hospitality.
