I recently spent eight very pleasant nights at the Hampton Inn Manassas. This hotel raised the bar on my concept of the perfect stay in a mid-priced chain. First, we were pleased that they had located our room precisely in the area that we requested in our online reservation. Our room was tastefully appointed in dark wood with black granite inlay, and it was spotlessly clean. We slept well each night because the mattresses here are comfortable, the sheets are soft and the pillows are plump and fluffy. We were here in July during record-breaking heat, and the air conditioner never failed to keep our room comfortably cool. We used our laptop computer during our stay for excursion planning, and were impressed with the ease of connecting to and the speed of the Wi-Fi. The list of available cable television channels is lengthy.
The free breakfast offered is a delight. It far surpasses anything else that I have experienced at a hotel in this price range. Each morning there was freshly made fruit salad consisting of honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple and grapes, in addition to apples, bananas, and oranges. Some mornings there were fresh berries to put in cereal or on top of waffles—there was also whipped crème. Three hot choices were prepared, and differed each day. There were egg dishes, such as steak, cheese, and scrambled eggs, zesty country breakfast potatoes, “bagel toppers,” (a sort of breakfast pizza), biscuits and gravy, and a variety of sausages and bacon. In addition there was an array of hot and cold cereals, boiled eggs, and yogurt. Juices, and two kinds of coffee, regular or robust, were also available. The breakfast area was constantly monitored for tidiness, and the food offerings were kept stocked.
The entire staff here was exceedingly pleasant. Whoever we approached was eager to assist us, and always with a smile. That the employees here love their work is evident in their attitudes toward their customers.
We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to Manassas National Battlefield Park, a mere one and a half mile down Sudley Road. In the opposite direction down Sudley Road are innumerable stores and restaurants. We also found it quite easy to get to historic Old Town Manassas and even to Washington D.C. via the metro from this location; freeway access is about one mile down Sudley Road. Hampton Inn is in a safe area at the intersection of Sudley and Williamson Roads. There is ample and well-lit parking.
For all these reasons, it was with reluctance that we checked out of the Hampton Inn Manassas. It had truly become home to us during our stay. We plan to return again and again.
