I have just returned from malta. I stayed at this hotel for 1 week. It is in a good location a few minutes away from the main square and sea front. the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were good size and cleaned every other day.

However there were no air conditioners in the room, the TV set were from the last century and did not work the whole week i was there. The food was basic. Breakfast was the same spread for the 7 days and very appalling. There was no continental option. Dinner varied on most days but was either salty or no taste

Our ROOM was dirty, we had ants and cockroaches, tv not working, after cleaning every 2nd day room and bathroom was still dirty.no air conditioning, no fridges, no kettles. We had to pay for a kettle £25 plus £5 deposit - we stayed for 10 days but had to pay for 2 weeks. We could bay fridge but also not cheap. FOOD terrible, every day the same, if sausage left from breakfast we had them for dinner as a salad with pasta. Restaurant table cloths dirty they do not change them, waiters staff do not trained, when they clean tables tapped cutlery and plates so laud that you could not enjoy your meal, there was air conditioning but they never turn it on. Restaurant to small for that amount of people. Bar staff not trained, not friendly, very poor knowledge about cocktails, poor English. Pool area was ok had only 4 an umbrellas all had something broken. This hotel is not for a family with small babies. Internet access very poor, only one computer was working and was not for free.

Room Tip: up high floor is more hot, not for family with babies. If you can take apartment at least there are...

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and two young children 18th til 28th June.we thought the hotel was very clean and nice. Our rooms were cleaned every other day for which clean towels were given, if we required more towels we only had to ask. For a 3star hotel the food was more than adequate, there was always two different meats, a fish dish and some form of pasta or rice, if the children didn't like what was on the menu they were more than happy to do them something else. We were all inclusive and the soft drinks were branded ie fanta, sprite. The sprints were just the local stuff but that's average on the island. Most of the staff were very friendly. It you want anything better from your holiday then pay for a 5star hotel, at the end of the day you get what you pay for. We will return to this hotel

My husband and I stayed at the San Anton for two weeks from 8th-22nd June. We love Malta so the hotel was always going to be just a base for us, but we really liked the location and the room / studio apartment was huge! There is no air con in the bedroom, just a ceiling fan - this is something the hotel needs to address. The heat was just building when we were leaving, and it was hard to sleep due to the heat on the last two nights. The beds were comfortable, and we had a small kitchenette - the 'fridge was very handy for the large amount of water we needed! One point to note is that if you ask for water at the hotel bar it comes in a plastic cup, not a bottle, but there are plenty of small shops selling groceries within a minutes' walk so you can buy water in bulk. Our room was on the top floor facing the Santa Maria Hotel (also owned by Blue Sea). The Santa Maria is being refurbished with an aim to open at the end of July 2013 - so we were often awoken by the sound of work being carried out across the road. We had no TV the whole time we were there - they actually installed a new flat screen the day before we left - however, as we were leaving the TV's were still not operational. There is a TV in the bar but not enough of a satellite signal to use it, so if you wanted to watch the Wimbledon final, go to the pub next door!

We chose to stay all inclusive to save money on food. This was a mistake because the food was the one thing that let the hotel down. Breakfast was chaos at times - the toast machine often caught fire and due to the layout of the restaurant there were often issues with queues. Often the crockery / cutlery would be in short supply, and the plates were not always clean due to the quick turn around needed. The quality of the food was good in the evening - there is always a roast and plenty to go around, always fish and always chicken. There are salads at lunch and dinner time, and the ice cream is very good. I don't eat much meat but there were few vegetarian options and I did get bored eating chicken every night. We did notice the food improved as the hotel became busier in the second week so hopefully it will continue to get better. The beer at the pool bar is better than the beer in the hotel bar according to my husband, but the wine is fine in both bars. As people have already said, the local spirits are not great. On a couple of nights we ate out - at Granny's in Buggiba Square, and in the Chinese across the road from the hotel - we would recommend both for value for money and delicious food! Cafe Villa Mare in Buggiba Square is great for pizza and beer at lunchtimes, plus they have free WiFi - the hotel does not have WiFi and you have to pay for internet access - For really fast internet access, go to O'Reilly's Bar, just off Buggiba Square - you can get a great cocktail there too!

The hotel was generally clean on the surface, however our room was not cleaned properly in the two weeks we stayed and although the bed was made and fresh towels supplied, we didn't get any clean sheets. The bathroom was wiped over once during the two weeks, but the toilet wasn't cleaned at all. We noticed a cleaner mopping the pool area, but the mop was filthy so he was really only pushing the dirt around. It's a shame because with a little more effort this would be a lovely hotel.

The Bar in the hotel is named Molly Malone's, giving the impression that it's Irish. It's not. the decor is very dated and thrown together. This is where the nightly entertainment takes place. We stayed for a few nights of this but bingo is not our thing and some of the singers that were brought it were simply dire. However - Leigh and Neil, the entertainment staff, were just brilliant, really nice people who did their very best to try and make sure we had a good time. Basically it's a good as you make it yourself, and you have to just get into the spirit of the thing, otherwise you will be disappointed!

On a positive note - the staff are very hard working, especially in the restaurant. There are not enough of them and we could see that they were under pressure quite often. Saying that, they remained polite and helpful. The reception staff are also very nice and we met some lovely people staying at the hotel, too.

We would definitely stay here again - the room was great apart from the cleaning issue. We wouldn't stay all inclusive though - there is better food locally.

A huge plus to staying here - right next door is an English pub called Spaghetti Junction. They have live sports on, plus the local Cisk is 2 Euro a pint - well worth it, plus Yvonne and Tony who run the pub are really lovely.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the pool - it's noisy at the front due to the work being done on the hote...

Hi everyone, I have just come back from a week in this hotel. We went all inclusive from 18th June. It's not a 5 star hotel so why expect 5 star treatment????
The room was very clean, the staff were lovely and friendly.
Ok the refurbishment is not complete as yet but it didn't affect the holiday.
If I have to complain about one thing and that would be the lack of umbrellas as there is very little shade by the pool.
The food was ok nothing special but there was always something to eat.
People just like to complain about everything.
All I say is "Why go away to complain" also it the company you go with.
I would go again

Room Tip: Apparently the rooms over the pool are very hot

Well what can I say the hotel was ok and it's a five minute wander from the front so that's all good but the food is seriously rubbish tbh the only thing that made it worth while was the unbelievably handsome Maltese waiter who never wore a name badge so I never got his name but he is absolutely gorgeous and I just wanted him on a plate tbh so I'll be back and this time im bringing my skimpy trunks.

We booked this as an all inclusive. On arrival we were allocated a ground floor room next to the street which reeked of dampness to the point it would make you cough. It was dark and dismal. We complained and were given a much better room, however, it was only relatively clean. The shower head had to be held overhead to have a proper shower and on the last day there were no bath towels!
To top it all the food was terrible. Being a vegetarian I managed to live on salad and chickpeas all week (when they were available - tomatoes weren't always available with the salad!) but my friend seriously struggled to find any decent meat, and the pizza was basically cardboard. The cheese was also slices covered in film! The chef approached me one night and offered me vegetarian pasta - plain pasta with no sauce! He said he couldn't do sauce!
A true shame because there were some good staff working there.

Room Tip: Don't book it! Otherwise overlooking the pool and above ground level. No air con - noisy fan b...
