“All Inclusive ?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

We have recently returned from this hotel. We stayed for a week - All Inclusive.
When making our booking we requested a Sea View and we were allocated one - which we were really pleased about, it also overlooked the square. The room was what we expected, so no disappointment there, there was a safe in the room, which cost 15 eurosfor the week. There was a kettle, cups and saucers, but you had to request coffee, teabags etc to make it there was also a hairdryer - which wasnt needed as it was so warm your hair dried very quickly anyway ! The shower over the bath was very poor and basically had to be held in your hand to shower yourself - but this is quite often the case in holiday accomodation. We were impressed that the towels were changed everyday, and bins emptied etc. Breakfast was continental, but as we were all inclusive we could also have full English breakfast to (or just choose what you wanted from the breakfast), which was excellent ... There were bar snacks then available from 11 - 4 but we felt there could have been more choice, as there was just sandwiches, toasted sandwichs, salads all the same (tuna, ham or cheese) or you could have bacon and egg, also chips were available) Dinner we felt was quite limited, but we managed to have something from the menu each evening. As we had paid for all inclusive we could have what drinks we wanted from 11 -11 but one of the main problems here was the bar was not very inviting .... so unless you took the drinks to your room which we tended to do as our view was so pleasant (and on the 5th floor) but other than that your drinks had to be drunk in a room with no windows and chairs just around the outer edge of the room, no table and chairs as you would expect, and to be served you had to keep going to reception to ask someone to come and serve you.
In the last couple of days we spoke to other people who had stayed at this hotel year after year, for 3-5 weeks at a time but they gave me the impression that it was cheap and cheerful and this is why they kept coming back ....
Overall we had a great time but Im not sure that this hotel should be an All Inclusive hotel, personally I felt it would be better suited to Bed and Breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for Sea View as it is quieter

This hotel was in a good location and within about a five minute walk to the sea. The Rooms were basic, yet had everything we needed and the most important part was it was clean! Towels were changed every day, bins changed etc; staff were polite and hard working.

Me and my friend both aged 24 went on a half board basis, which meant breakfast (served 7.30-9.30am) was included with free juice and hot drinks; dinner as well, but drinks were extra. The breakfast was basic: cereals, breads, cheese and hams, but was enough to keep us going til the afternoon and hot breakfasts were available for extra, the English breakfast was about 2.50 euros. Dinner (served 6.30-8pm)was a three course meal with a choice of two starters or the sald bar and then the main was a choice out of two dishes which were either meat or fish. The chef was very polite and helpful; my friend is allergic to pork and he offered to prepare another dish for her whenever pork was on the menu.

The restaurant would be better on the ground floor instead of the basement in order to get some natural light in as can get a bit hot if there for two long. However it was clean, just could do with some updating, but the money we paid it was extremely good value for money.

The communal areas could do with some updating but apart from that is a lovely hotel, mainly visitors 50+ staying there, but the plus side was, it was always quiet at night! Great location, with a few bars and various restaurants around the corner, alcohol extrememly cheap in this country!

Malta is a very small island and is mainly made from rock, so it does not have a great deal of beaches and the ones they do have get very busy. Beaches are accesible via the fantastic bus services that run very frequently and always on time. For a one day bus pass it was 2.60 euros which was very cheap compared with London passes.

If I went back to Malta I would stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Request a room above the second floor, that way you are able to get sea views.

This is a very basic hotel at the heart of Buggiba, just minutes from the main square.Although very dated in its appearance it was a clean and friendly hotel and in a perfect location. Our room 504 had a balcony with a lovely sea view and was at the back of the hotel so very quiet.Rooms at the front were overlooking the main road and with bars and restaurants facing were probably not as quiet. The room itself was large ,with a double bed and plenty of storage space and the bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower and clean towels daily. We opted for half board and the food was excellent, breakfast was continental or you could order full English for 2.5 euro (we had one last day and it was great)Tea was a choice of two starters, one soup or pasta dish and two main meals, one usually a fish dish and a dessert of cheesecake, fruit cocktail and icecream. All good quality and very generous portions. The hotel offers free wifi and Sky news and a lounge area with a small bar. Many of the guests were return visitors or long term guests as the hotel did have a homely feel, however they were all old age pensioners and it was a little like being in a care home at meal times and in the evenings when most of them retired to their rooms. However if you just want to use it as a base it is ideal and would be great for solo travellers as the staff are very friendly.I would return to this hotel based on the price we paid (£400 half board for two for 7 nights, including air Malta flights) absolute bargain.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms 501-504 have sea views at the back of hotel all the others look onto the back of bui...

The hotel is comfy (sea view rooms are fewer). There is free Wifi. Sky news and a sports channel on TV. The food is poor fare. There is also constant drama over food.

Customer service – the Eastern European waitress was unpleasant, slow to clear tables or serve; she intruded into guests interactions and conversations with each other and ABUSED guests who did not wish to engage with her nonsense. Her behaviour lowered the tone of the establishment.
The Italian cook bad mouthed guests, roamed around with a laptop (well, the fish was dry, the gravy burnt, the soup dishwater); he also did not like to serve food after 7 pm though the notice says last orders are at 7.45 pm. His mate Clayton in Reception, acts as if he is a guest here. He was rude and generally had an attitude problem. This man targeted/bothered guests subtly for free accommodation in the UK (as if). The trio also blatantly expected tips (aggressively touting) for what essentially was poor, unacceptable behaviour.
The other staff were good.

We just returned from a 5 night trip to Malta, spent at the Relax Inn in Bugibba. While not a luxury property by any stretch, this is a quality hotel, and the keep things simple, but do those things well.

Pro's:
Rooms are clean, and the housekeepers were great, always cleaned the rooms really well.
Food was fresh, and dinners on the 5 nights varied and included all the basics.
Location was great, quite central to Bugibba, 10 minutes or so walk from the bus station.
The roof-top deck was surprisingly nice, though the weather didn't allow for us to use it.
There is complimentary wifi throughout the hotel, which is a nice little bonus.

Con's:
Rooms are super basic, but do have small flat screen TVs, and balconies.
Breakfast food is simple, but good - pretty standard European continental fare - breads & rolls, cheese & meats, yogurts, cereals - just fine for a light breakfast.
Drinks, not even soft-drinks are provided during dinner without paying

Most of the travelers, at least in the off season, seem to be retirees - but this could also be a good thing if you're looking for a quiet place to stay and relax!

Room Tip: Higher floors facing the sea looked like they had a great view!
