“From Tenko with love”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Just back from our first trip to Malta which was lovely - only spoiled by the Mavina!
We arrived about 19.30 and were a bit disappointed that the guy on reception (Paul?) was not able to offer us a safe. We were told tomorrow. He then showed us to the lift which was very small but adequate. We got to the top floor and could not believe the fact that the door was very hard to open - and if we had known what was behind it wouldn't have tried as hard! We had been put into a studio apt instead of the 1 bed we had booked and paid for. Back downstairs to a very chilly reception and downright rudeness from the guy on the desk - who told us to come back tomorrow and "where was he going to find a 1 bed apt for us? We only wanted the one we had booked and paid for! Anyway the next morning we were moved into the 1 bed and it was every bit as bad - broken toilet seat, broken kettle, shower head taped together and filthy! Cooker was a camping type stove balanced on a small unit that rocked precariously - Health and Safety where are you? Is it too much to ask for a microwave? We also had ants in the bedroom that we managed to rid ourselves. No maid service, no bed change and only one change of towels which in the 35deg heat was not good!! My sister and I have traveled all over and NEVER been treated like this or had such poor accommodation - it's meant to be 3* but honestly I would put it one notch above a hostel. We took to calling it Faulty Towers but at least they had Manuel!

This hotel was recommended by our friends, who'd stayed before. It's basic accomodation but clean. The refrigerator in our room looked broken but seemed to work. We had a one bedroom apartment and a sofa bed in the dining area for our son. We were told (by a notice on the wall) that we were not to open and close the sofa bed ourselves, so we just left it open all week which was not ideal.
The pool area was all right, but a bit small. Some guests were diving in although a sign clearly said no diving allowed. No one at the hotel seemed to care. There were young children in the pool at the time.
We had a postive experience until the last day, when we received our bill for the week. The deposit we'd paid in advance had not been deducted from the bill. The staff insisted there was no way we could have paid it and it went on into a long and drawn-out argument until the owner arrived and confirmed that we HAD paid the deposit. It was an unpleasant end to what had been a pretty reasonable stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Karaoke noise from a nearby bar at the back of the hotel but street noise from the front.

yes still a good location, but within 1 hour of arriving went to bar to get drink/food on return found items missing from room, when arrived keys could not be found for are room so were given the spare keys,(take it the original keys were in the possestion of the visitor to our room),ispoke to reception and were very helpful she called the manager who was less than helpful seeming to imply we were mistaken so from this we will not be returning again, have used this hotel once a year for 4 years but this episode means we will not return

Room Tip: make sure you have keys

Just spent a week in this hotel for the first time in Malta.Upon entering the room you could smell it was very fusty and the smell did not go all week. The rooms were in need of fresh decoration and the television set was broken and some new furniture would not have gone a miss. In the bathroom the shower head was hanging loose on the wall and the towels changed only once in the week. The bedding was not changed at all through the week. Had to chase staff when you wanted a drink in the bar. Quality of the food not brilliant. Glad it was not high temperatures because the ceiling fan would of been useless because the rooms were not air conditioned.

This was an extra holiday for us thus we went self catering. We had a one bedroom apt over looking the pool. The room was quiet and clean.

The apartment is dated but it did us a fine. If your looking for anything more than basic this is not very you.

There are plenty of restaurant nearby that are reasonable priced.

Room Tip: Studios are at the front of the building.

We booked the hotel on a late deal never having been to the hotel before. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The rubbish was removed every day. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is just a short walk from Bugibba and was far enough away from the clubs. there are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. A good place to stay.
