“AVOID”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013 via mobile

This hotel lacks any character, charm or warmth; much like the reception staff. Lots of rooms had no water on arrival, and the overall cleanliness borders on disgusting. My advice? Don't stay here! I chose the hotel on price and because it boasted two swimming pools. The reality is; I wouldn't touch either if them. I only wish I'd read the previous reviews on here before I booked.

So we took notice of some of the reviews on this but thought hey lets book anyway...what can I say the place is a dump. I think I actually hated it from the minute we walked in the door. Firstly the neighbourhood is a dump and the two noisy bars across the road are guaranteed to keep you awake if you have a front facing room like we did. The receptionist was the most rude and unfriendly person I have ever met - so much so we felt like turning around and walking back out...to cut a long story short - the hotel was good, maybe even nice ONCE but it definitely isn't now.

The rooms have paper-thin walls so it is really noisy at night;
The view from the bedroom windows overlooked a service courtyard which was used as a dump;
There is NO airconditioning;
The door lock was broken on the front door and the balcony door;
The toilet was vile and the door frame was broken off;
Definite water problems was the toilet smelt strongly of urine;
Breakfast was basic with a poor choice;
Dinner was vile and the same everyday just with different sauces;
The service in the restaurant was so poor you would sometimes finish your food before being offered a drink;
There is no wifi despite the fact it says there is free wifi in the hotel reception;
The 'entertainment' was poor unless you like dated one man tribute acts;
The floors in the rooms were dirty;
The kitchen was vile;
There was no fire alarm/smoke detectors in any room;
THERE WERE NO PLUG SOCKETS ANYWHERE IN THE WHOLE 2 BED APARTMENT!!!
For some unknown reason the bar seriously lacked chairs and tables?!?!?!!

In short don't believe the professional photos - they are not correct and book only if it is dirt cheap personally I would never stay here again! Bugibba is a dated and poorly facilitated resort that has been well forgotten about - stay elsewhere - maybe in Sliema or Valletta...

Room Tip: Front facing rooms are noisy; Two bedroom apartments are relatively roomy;

This is the worse Hotel I have ever stayed at in my 30 years of travelling.
We arrived at 10am to be told room will be ready at 2pm, on returning at 2pm it became 4pm. the room was dirty, matress mouldy and the spings falling through it, the wall had blood on it and it was sooo noisy and smelly. The pools were filthy with milldew and mould growing on them.breakfast was shocking same every day.
After complaining i was told i cant have another room or bed by the snotty manager so i called my holiday company who told me they will move me. but confronting the receptionist this was not the case, I asked to speak to management but the management would not face me and it took 3 days to move rooms and was put on a top floor with the lift out of order. it was a stuggle as you could imaging, having 2 broken ankles and facing soo many stairs. some of the staff were nice expecially the waiters but management need to face the complaints and learn customer service skills and sort this hotel out.
This is a noisy dirty hotel and stould not be rated as a 3star its not even a 1 star.
Be carefull staying here they charge extra for a kettle fridge safe new room english breakfast although we stayed b and b and lots more.
And during our week stay there I met 6 couples who had money stolen from their room and on departure the hotel had a lot of police coming in.

Hotel was clean, breakfast very good value, great bar - music every night which gave a great atmosphere, staff were friendly and helpful. we didnt use the pool etc but the area looked clean etc, overall great value for money - well done to all, only thing i would suggest that the bedrooms should be hoovered each day.

I stayed at this hotel when fishing, last November, before going to Madeira, and was very disappointed for this hotels 3 star rating.
Having said that, the price was, about 3 star self catering in Tenerife. The nearest, lift was out of order and we were on the 11th floor, which was the top one.
the pool was very cold as, the triangular shape of the hotel buildings only let sun light hit the pool area for about 3 hours, a day. The building could do with a facelift, as the exterior paint was faded. as we were there for fishing, this was more important, I caught 4 wahoo, the heaviest was 10kilo.
I would go Back to Malta, but a different hotel,

Room Tip: I think there is a better chance of getting sun on you balcony if you get a room, not with a pool vi...
