“18-30 hell/ paradise!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2010

This hotel/appartment block is definately for the hardy traveller who doesnt care where they sleep. The rooms are huge with a kitchen and no means of cooking?? the beds are double or single or a variety of all depending on what room you are given.Dont be fooled by the description of a rooftop sun terrace with pool? pool is an inflatable intex 10ft x 6ft with no steps to get into the thing except for a wooden bench/table set pushed up against!!! (very odd).
The best thing about this hotel would be that it had free internet access and perhaps for some it is in the heart of the town.
If you do book this hotel please do not pay more than £20 per room per night as this is all that it is worth.

The apartments are basic, but very large. The kitchen is fine, but no cutlery or cooking equiptment supplied in a self-catering apartment? Very odd. We spread Flora on our sandwiches with a credit card - honestly.

Rooftop terrace seemed fine, but Golden Bay is €1.16 by bus and less than 30 mins away, so we went there or Meililha Bay for sunbathing and swimming.

Everything was fine with the staff, but the coffee machine was out of action one morning at breakfast.

No bother with transfers or taxi drivers finding the place, which was about 20 mins walk to Buggiba centre.

No real complaints here, you get what you pay for.

We arrived in Malta thinking we were stopping at some apartments next door to the Bella Vista Hotel. However, we were told we were going to Aparthotel on Tourist Street (the 1 street I dreaded being on) but I'm so glad we did as these apartments were lovely and clean the air-con worked! which is very unusal in Malta. The rooms were kept really clean by the very friendly cleaning team and all the staff were brill. We could have a shuttle bus up to the Bella Vista Hotel but only called in once and I'm soo glad we didn't stay there, it was over run by studens! At 11pm all the outside entertainment ended so it was very quiet on a night.

The breakfasts were more than adequate with cereals, toast, james, cakes, meats and cheese and a full english or parts of depending what you wanted, agasin the staff could not be faulted.

The only down side was the pool on the roof which had loads of dead flies in for the whole of our fornight holiday, however the roof top terrace was quiet with a beautiful view.

I have just returned from a 9 day holiday at the Bellavista aparthotel. Rooms were spacious, clean, having had th bathrooms refurbished. Food was adequate and cooked fresh. Staff were friendly. All in all a good holiday.

After booking with lastminute.com, I arrived on the 16th April to find the hotel closed for maintenance. After making enquiries I was 'upgraded', with apologies, to the Bella Vista Hotel, and given half board status. I enjoyed the hotel but obviously it wasn't the type of holiday I'd chosen, or the location.

nb - For my mandatory rating of the hotel I booked (Bella Vista Aparthotel) I am forced to select terrible, simply because it was closed. If it were possible I would have given it no rating as I feel this would have been fairer. I will review the Bella Vista Hotel also.

Just spent a week on B&B rate at the Bella Vista Aparthotel (note: NOT the Bella Vista Hotel, a sister operation in another location in Qawra).
The Bella Vista Aparthotel is 3 minutes walk to the promenade with lovely views across St Paul's Bay and 5 minutes to Qawra bus terminus, very handy if you don't want to hire a car. Bus fares are very cheap and good day trips are easy to Valletta, Mdina and beaches.
There are plentiful pub/cafes, various restaurants and takeaways in the immediate area, and a 10 minute walk to Bugibba for more choice of eateries and entertainment.
Our top (5th) floor twinbedded apartment was clean with a newly fitted bathroom, small grill & hotplate (though no pots/pans) , kettle and fridge. The balcony overlooked the pools of the neighbouring hotel and an area of wasteland (not as bad as it sounds!) was a sheltered suntrap and a great place for sunbathing in privacy. De luxe? Definitely not, but more than adequate for a holiday where you expect to be out and about every day.
There's a roof terrace for more sunbathing with a small swimming pool, pool and terrace were clean and well kept during our stay. There's a small bar/cafe and children's pool on the groundfloor.
The hot buffet breakfast was plentiful, though don't expect a huge choice or a cordon bleu experience at these prices.
The Aparthotel staff were excellent - friendly, helpful and very willing to try to help wherever they could, we were made to feel very welcome.
The Bella Vista Aparthotel was a good base to explore Malta from at a very reasonable price.
Watch out for the rude and perstent timeshare touts who hang around Qawra bus station and nearby streets each morning pouncing on British couples. If you accept one of the little blue envelopes they offer you'll hear you've just won a free holiday. Sounds good except that you then have to waste over an hour at a nearby hotel getting a hard sell on a pricey timeshare scheme. OK if you're interested in a timeshare, a real pain if you're not.

  • Liked — Friendly staff and the suntrap balcony
  • Disliked — Noise from nearby late-night karaoke
