We arrived 6/7/13 for a 2 week stay to find the hotel fully meeting our expectations & needs.
However on 9/7/13, 50 unruly & extremely badly behaved Russian children arrived, quickly followed by another 150 during our stay. They were unsupervised the majority of the time, running riot throughout the hotel causing mayhem & pandemonium.
They were abusing the lifts by riding up & down continuously, resulting in one of the two lifts always breaking down & out of service, resulting in us having to walk up & down to the 5th floor. When challenged, they rudely replied 'you can walk!'
The pool facilities became unusable EVERY day at 4pm, as they descended in droves (in excess of 50 at a time) making so much noise & disruption, continuous jumping in & out of the pool, kicking balls about in front of & into us, even jumping on the unbeds we were lying on as well overturning them whilst running around. There was no way we could use the pool because of their behaviour. The poolside also quickly became flooded. You could not even sit at the outside tables provided because the noise was intolerable.
They were throwing watermelon, general rubbish & water bombs from their room balconies onto the balconies / verandas below.
On one occasion a fellow guest videoed the kids throwing lighted papers from their balcony to try to set fire to the canopy below.
They were running riot / fighting outside the dinning room, which went unchallenged by the so called Education First (EF) staff who were 'supposed' to be looking after them, which posed a safety hazard when I was carrying drinks in glasses from the bar to the dinning room during evening meals.
I complained to the hotel duty manager on 3 separate occasions (both verbally & in writing) about the behaviour & the detrimental effect it was having on my enjoyment of my holiday, where the manager said people have different tolerance levels & clearly his tolerance level was better than mine! Also, that they had every right to use the lift, which I agree to, but not to continually ride up & down abusing the facilitiy, preventing other guests from using.
Every morning & evening the kids congregated / met in the foyer (in excess of 100) which resulted in no seating being available (settees provided to relax) & they were extremely rude & arrogant when politely asked 'excuse me' so we could get passed.
I spoke to the Education First (EF) leader (Rodrego) who freely admitted he did not have enough staff resource to supervise them effectively & that he would not like to have to put up with this during his holiday. He also stated 'they should have been put up in a separate hotel, which did not have holiday guests' I asked had he fed back through his management team, considering the number of complaints generated, where he advised this is the resource he has been given to work with.
Most of the EF staff were little more than young teenagers themselves, most looking to be aged around 17 - 20 yrs old & as such, commanded no respect or able to exert any discipline / control over the kids.
When I advised the hotel I was going to post this review, I was met with shrugged shoulders & couldn't care less attitude.
Having spoken to numerous fellow guests during our star, this hotel tends to have a lot of repeat business, but as such, they all said they would never return to the Canifor.
