“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Stayed for 4 nights all inclusive at the seashells for a rest after touring Italy it is a very good hotel if you just want to relax. There is a large pool area which overlooks the sea and has plenty of sun beds.
Food and drink were good and plentiful served by friendly staff. Pay the extra for a sea view room with balcony, much nicer room.
Qawra itself is a very quite area and probably more suited to older folk or those that just want to relax around the pool.
Getting about is very easy in Malta the public bus service is frequent on time and comfortable an all day ticket is 2.60 Euro’s.
A big thanks to the staff for a very pleasant stay.

The seashells resort was our first foray into all inclusive. The receptionist was friendly and gave us plenty of information when we checked in. Our room was dated but clean. There was a small fridge but it wasn't built in gave the place a budget feel just sat there on the floor. The old style tv had very few British channels which surprised me considering how many uk tourists visit the island.

We didn't have the full breakfast but chose the continental option each morning. There was a reasonable selection and we enjoyed it every day. We were out everyday so I can't comment on the quality of lunch. Dinner was a buffet affair and was consistent but average. We ended up eating out for three of the nights for a bit of variation.

The bar area is ok and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

The lifts are a nightmare. You can wait forever for one.

There is nothing wrong with the hotel, but there isn't anything great about it either.

We thank you for your review and are glad you found the all inclusive option good.
One has to keep in mind that we have guests of many nationalities in the hotel. Considering there are 2 British Channels + all films on the local channels being transmitted in English anyway is more then we offer for other nationalities.
A thank you for the comments concerning staff.
Cheers

I stayed at this hotel for 4 days from the 25th October 2013 and had a wonderful time! We stayed bed and breakfast and the food was lovely. You can have a healthy breakfast which was served until about 1130am or you could have a full english breakfast in the other resturant which served until 10ish. The hotel itself is lovely. The rooms were a great size with plenty of storage and the beds were really comfy. The maids were great we had fresh towels everyday and the room was always spotlessly clean. Would recommend a sea view room as it was lovely waking up every morning looking out over the bay! There was a large pool to the front of the hotel with plenty of sunbeds. Also there is a kids slide and activity area next to the pool which im sure will keep them entertained for hours. All the staff at this hotel are all very helpfull and friendly.

As for Qawra well it was my 14th time back to that resort and hopefully not my last! It does start getting a little quiet over the winter period but we never struggled to find anywhere to eat or have a drink however you do find the bars start to close down about 11ish but we just took a bottle of wine back to the room.

Overall we had a wonderful time staying at the suncrest and will most certainly be recommending to my customers

We thank you for your review and are glad you enjoyed yourself so much that you will be recommending our hotel to your customers as well - great.
Indeed waking up to a grand sun rise is fantastic, especially since the weather was so great. Yesterday it rained in Malta but the sun was shining in between and today it is again fabulous weather - that's the weather in Malta for you - the sun always comes out again.
We thank you for your comments concerning staff - very much appreciated.
We hope to see you soon again in our hotel.
Cheers.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We stayed here from 19th October till the 26th October, our first time in Malta.
It Is a nice island with things to see and do, I would come back again however Qawra is very quiet on the nightlife front so It will be St Julians near Paceville if we return.

Anyway about the hotel, first impressions were very good as the Reception area looks Fantastic looks like your entering a 5 star hotel.
We got dealt with quickly at reception and sent to our room (317).
The Room was not the same standard of the lobby, but it was fine, clean enough and everything worked as it should.
The pillows were uncomfortable, way to big.
The Maids done a very good job room was cleaned daily.

The Pool area was one of the best I've been too, really spacious so no problems getting a sunbed despite the hotel being busy.
The pool is salt water which I prefer anyway, easier to swim in, however the pool is FREEZING think it gets shaded by the Hotel itself.
I like the Pool being cold, you get used to it once your in.
The sea was a better option, with no messy sand and just a few steps to go down.
The Animation team were also good, people were having fun doing the water aerobics and dance lessons.

There was decent choice for food, including a breakfast we went too that was until 11:30, we are late risers so we missed the early breakfast every day.
So the later breakfast had cereals, Greek yogurt croissants toast etc.. all very nice, however the toaster is not effective, it either warms the bread or burns it.

In the Afternoon there is a nice buffet at the pool bar, burgers, sausages and other food. The Burgers were nice I think I had a burger every day.

In the Evening there was the choice of two restaurants "La Place" or the Maltese Restaurant called "It Tok"
We did not like the food that much at "La Place" however "It Tok was decent, I tried Rabbit for the first time and its very nice.
We also tried the "Tal Captian" across the road, it was not bad, but didn't see point in paying as it was about same standard as the All inclusive food.

The drinks on offer was good, lots of variety, I think the house beer tastes very strong though and moving to the smoother "Cisk" beer would be a good move.
I also took a liking to Kinnie and drank it all holiday its a love or hate kind of drink.
The cocktails were nice, especially "Kinnie Breeze"

The evening entertainment was about standard what you expect from a 3/4 star hotel, but it was disappointing as that's all there was in Qawra for night life,
There was "Incongnito" down the road open late on Friday" and the Hotels night club on Saturday but that was it.
The best Nights Entertainment from the Hotel was actually the quiz by the Animation Team, I think trying to vary the Entertainment would help.
We got sick of only Live Music every-night.

So the only annoyances during the Holiday was the weather (,mainly overcast) however it was the end of October and we still got a tan.
The Wifi was not very good, kept dropping connection on both our phones.
The lifts were crazy and seemed to have a mind of there own.

So to sum up I'd never come back to this hotel, Qawra is far too quiet for us at our age.
However its a good hotel and I'd recommend it to others when talking holidays.
This is a nice Hotel and being All Inclusive is worth it.
If you want a quiet relaxing Holiday and don't mind turning in for the night a bit earlier, then this the Hotel to come too

Room Tip: ensure you ask for the type of room you want, for example Sea View, High up, With Balcony.

We thank you for another good review today - and a very detailed one - your time is appreciated, not just by us but also from the readers who could get a very good picture of the hotel. It is good you mention things such as choice of food, staff, pool area, bars, drinks and sea water quality. It is great you mentioned you enjoyed swimming in the sea. The sea water is around 25-26 degrees right now.
Talking about St. Julians - it is only a 15- 20 minute drive along the coast road from our hotel - if you very young it may indeed come in handy to stay there.
One highlight which is only a 10 minutes' walk away from the hotel and which has only just opened is an Aquarium - really interesting.
We send you sunny regards from Malta.
cheers

I went to Seashells for a week all inclusive with my wife on 11 October. We had an excellent time and really couldn't fault the hotel especially for what we paid. The staff were extremely helpful at all times from the check in to checking out.
The room was clean, and cleaned each day.
The air conditioning was included in the all inclusive price and so the only negative thing we would say about our stay is that for the price of the wifi internet (5 Euro for 24 hours) it really should have been included in the all inclusive service as well. Most people want wifi these days and if you haven't got an unlimited service on your phone having to pay extra is not really good enough.
Nice pool, with bar and good access in that although across the road because of the drop in level, access is through the hotel under the road - nicer than it sounds.
The food was a bit samey however you have to appreciate that there was always ample choice with a different meat, fish and veggie option each meal. We had continental breakfast in the downstairs area each morning and this was excellent too as you could help yourself to whatever you wanted.
All in all an excellent break,
Thank you.

Room Tip: We paid the extra for a sea view which as we turned out to be on the 6th floor was well worth it. I...

We thank you for mentioning various aspects of the hotel, especially the food and choice thereof. One very important thing you mention is as well is the all inclusive package price you paid - it is great that one sees our package in this light.
Also thanks for your comments concerning staff - very much appreciated for all their efforts of course.

We stayed here for 4 nights from 29th September for an early anniversary celebration. Yet again it was well worth the money. The food was fantastic, a bit every evening and the sub sandwiches are amazing. The drinks are great and flow freely. Went swimming in the sea every day. Animation team were great, not pushy but friendly.

Always enough sunbeds and friendly staff. What more do you need from a hotel.

We will be returning again next year.

We thank you for your fabulous review and positive feedback and information which we are sure readers will find interesting and assuring. We are glad you have returned and will not hesitate to return next year.
This year the summer has extended well into the autumn and our guests could still swim in the sea which is around 25 - 26 degrees.
Keep the good spirit up.

It was my first trip to Malta, with great expectasions . I must say, Malta its nice, but not o place where you want to return time and time again. Once its good, and maybe come back 10 years
later. Anyway, this is my opinion.
About the hotel ... Very good situated, on seashore, right in the midle of Qawra Buggiba resort.
Pretty clean, large rooms, but small bathrooms. The furniture its more then antique (and the faciities in the badrooms are even older), but the bed its very comfortable.
The food its very good, and the bevarages too, with the exception of the coffee (maybe, its something related with the water, in Malta most of the freshwater its in fact desalinised seawater).
The staff its very nice, friendly and helpfull. Probably, because most of them are young eastern europeans, who work hard for small money.
Conclusion ? Not a real four stars hol, but a good enough one.

We thank you for your review and rating your holiday good enough.
There are actually a lot of British who return to Malta over and over again - it depends what one is after.
It is great that you thought our food and beverages were good.
We look forward to seeing you back in 10 years' time.
Cheers
