Firstly, I was horrified to read the review before this one untitled "week from hell" because I had the most marvellous stay at this hotel at exactly the same time and think this was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!! Yes, extensive building work was going on at the back of the hotel but Malta's building industry is closed over the Christmas period like ours in the UK and the most building work I saw was a couple of men laying floor tiles in what was to be the new pool area some 100 metres away. I was lucky enough to have room 58 which overlooked a quiet residential street and was on the ground floor and certainly saw no cockroaches, ants or dirt of any kind. Our maid kept the room spotlessly clean each day. An earlier review also mentioned that the tea/coffee facilities in the room were at an extra charge but we stayed half board and they were included in the price and topped up regularly each day. The beds were comfortable and there was a large wardrobe in the room but not much drawer space. Only 10 fitted hangers were included in the wardrobe so you may want to take a few of your own. If you like to watch British TV, don't get too excited because the only channel I could find in English was Sky News. One thing I found lacking was the lighting: Although there were @ 6 wall lights in the room they were all very dim and could certainly have had some higher wattage bulbs installed. We stayed over New Years Eve when it was extremely busy. The restaurant was packed with people for the New Years Eve dinner which was very good but rather crowded. It appears that the Hotel appeals to Italian famly groups who had arrived in their droves and i was unfortunate enough to be on the same corridor of a family of 16 who delighted in knocking on each others doors and having noisy discussions outside my door at all hours of the day and night with no consideration for their neighbours. I enjoyed the indoor pool although it was a little crowded. The outdoor pool was under construction but I very much doubt if anyone would have wanted to use it as the temperature was 16 degrees and you needed your jumper. The staff were all excellent and very helpful. The room was spacious as was the bathroom which had a very good shower. During our stay we hired a car for 2 days from Islander Rentals who are situated opposide the hotel. They did us a great deal for E34 for 2 days hire. The car was quite basic but it did the job required. Buses were excellent value at E12 for an unlimited ticket for a week and the bus station was just a couple of minutes down the road. Despite other reviews, I saw no Timeshare sellers. All in all, an excellent holiday and I would stay here again.
Don't pay extra for a sea view at the moment as there is extensive buliding work going on. I had...
