“Good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

We have just arrived from a relaxed holiday in Malta. After reading all the other reviews on here abouth the Primera Hotel i was surprised to see the negativity about this hotel. Me and my wife along with our 3 kids were greeted in such a manner where we felt like home thanks to Domnic and Mr.Borch, the GM. The food was average, but what do you expect in a 3* star hotel. You pay for what you get! The most pleasant thing about our stay was the fact that we had a beautiful view of the sea accompanied by airconditioning throughout are whole stay. We recommend it for a family holiday. All in all it was a good stay.

visited the primera in july/ august this year.Hotel staff very friendly but the reguests made to the reception ars not taken seriously, i.e. request for a fridge or safe.Seems to get a fridge you need to visit out of season as they only have a couple, we asked every day for a week and still did'nt get one.I booked many months in advanced and did'nt get the room I requested, yet our friends booked late and got a better room. The pool was filthy and had to be closed down for a couple of days after is was inspected. But having said that the location is excellent and the rooms are clean.

Room Tip: Sorry but it seems to be pot luck!Seaview rooms are have better view if you can get one.

we are just back from a week in Malta (this being our 4th holiday in Malta) and the Primera was the worst place we have stayed in so far. We can put up with basic and don't have obscenely high expectations but this hotel was awful. first impressions were ok but inspecting the bath room (shower, toilet and sink) the shower tray had black and pink mould round the edges which looked like they had not even attempted to clean it. we had to turn the toilet on ourselves (good job my hubby knew how to). the people in the rooms either side were noisy, coming in at 4am in the morning each night and shouting, singing and slamming doors. there was large groups of youngsters (teenagers) who kept the lift on their floor while they waited for all their friends to get there (sometimes for 20 mins). Wifi is available in the rooms for 2.50 euros for 60mins but the signal kept dropping and our time was still used up. the internet in the reception area (4 computers) wont let you view or download items from email so if you needed a document that was emailed to you then you could not get it. The pool is much smaller then would imply in the photos and you need to change on floor 3 to another lift to the top. the only good thing about it was the very cheery chap on the reception desk. I will not stay there again and would not recommend it

Room Tip: buy some cleaning supply's when you get there

After reading all the other reviews on here about this hotel I was really worried about going there. We arrived on a sunday afternoon & were welcomed by dominic on reception. He said our booking from hotels 4 u had not put our child on the reservation but it wasnt a problem & because of that he upgraged us to a superior room which just needed another bed putting in. We were in room 306 & it was a great twin bedded room. The air con was a blessing & it was left on for the whole of our stay. The bathroom had a shower no bath which suited us, was clean as was the room. Once dominic had found us our extra bed we were very happy. Our room was serviced every day, bedding changed twice as were the towels during our 10 day stay, beds comfortable.
Breakfast was basic cheese, ham, toast cereal, rolls. Tea/coffee, juice/water, there was cooked breakfast available but we didnt have that, toast was surfice for us.
The splash pool on the roof is the only negative about this hotel, it is small although refreshing when you get too hot. But there is no atmosphere up there as no ones uses it & there is no pool bar some of the sunbeds are in need of repairing if not replacing & they definately need some umberellas as it really does get hot up there.
All in all a really pleasant stay, room good & clean, breakfast acceptable, hotel in great location. Dominic very helpful & was always smiling, my little girl thought he was great.
Good value for money worthy of 3*, if you are expecting the ritz go pay for it as this hotel will not give you this. But for value & location you cant go wrong with this hotel.

We stayed here for 2 weeks but wish we hadn't!!!,first evening meal consisted of "smash" for mashed potatoes!!! the food didn't get any better for the 2 weeks we were there... soup so thick you could almost cut it! Chef's need to learn how to cook!! 4 bars opposite hotel, 1 of which didn't shut 'til 5am!! Air-con in room was good, but that's the only good thing we can say about it. Malta itself lovely.Pool on roof only 1 metre deep and so dirty you wouldn't wash your smelly feet in it, as for the one in basement, not much better, toilets down in basement were blocked and smelly!! Loungers on roof need replacing, well past "sell by date"!! Our second room had had a problem in bathroom with leak from room above, so ceiling was brown and smelt damp! Room was never cleaned properly, you could write your name in dust on tv table, bed sheets not always clean!!! see photo's!!
It says it's a 3 star, but we think it should be minus 3 star!!! iit could be a nice place it money spent on it. It needs a complete revamp, it will still be very noisy bt if you are staying out all night you won't notice it!!

Room Tip: there are NO GOOD rooms just don't choose this hotel !!! that's the best tip we can give!! r...

Stayed here half board with my daughter in July 2012. Check in reception staff friendly enough - I remember good service from Dominic who was polite and attentive in explaining to fellow guests local attractions, also had a good sense of humour. Also, room cleaned including fresh bedding daily, cleaning staff including Josephine very friendly. Room air conditioned, though as hotel situated at heart of busy resort, could be noisy at night, including a fight going on at one of the bars at 4 am. Having said that, my daughter slept like a log, and is usually a light sleeper. Two pools - rooftop, though small and not the cleanest, also not enough sunloungers or parasols to go round. Said on hotel room guide was also a pool snack bar, but saw no evidence of this. Basement pool apparently a new addition, but never saw anybody use as was freezing, also changing rooms and toilets down there smelly with flies buzzing round. Food was average, probably along the lines of equivalent of Maltese school dinners - my daughter described as "edible" which sums it up. (Having said that the creme caramel for pudding was very tasty!). Overall, a fair hotel for price, room clean, aircon welcome, but pools a let down with average food.

Room Tip: Not a hotel to use if you are looking for peace and quiet as is situated in heart of resort overlook...

The food was very poor , breakfast and evening meal , only one chief so there was a bit of waiting for everybody minimal amount of staff for the hotel , our room floor wasn't sweep for the whole week , the pool on the roof it was disgusting there was a black scum mark all the way round the pool , we didn't even attempted to go it in it was to filth , we ask for a safe to put our passports , money etc in it , they brought one up to us ,you put it where you like very secure a mobile safe that's a first, we would recommend Malta its a lovely place to go full of history but it's a no no for the primera hotel
