Listed as 4* but this hotel falls short in a number of areas. The hotel is situated on the edge of St. Paul's bay, a few minutes walk from the centre of Bugibba and overlooking the busy marina.
Room facilities need to be addressed. Beds and towels are changed each day and (if it works - heaven help you if it doesn't) air conditioning is supplied without charge. But no tea/coffee making facilities are provided, no hair driers in room and t.v offers limited English speaking channels (14 in all with Euronews, 3/4 film channels and a radio channel). There is a small fridge.
Bedding consists of a top and bottom sheet and heavy blanket and heavy cover, far to warm for Malta's climate and you may need extra coathangers. Some pillows are well past their 'use by' date and are badly stained.
There is an iron and ironing board available to all, situated in the corridors.
During the night, particularly if you have a room close to, the noise coming from the lift machinery can cause quite a level of disturbance (particularly early hours/early morning). The lift system is due to be modernised at the end of the year.
'Chapel' rooms are the ones that (fairly obviously) face the main road at the front of the hotel where the Church is. It can get quite noisy sat on the balconies and could be the place where you wouldn't want to sit and enjoy a glass of wine.
If your'e not fortunate enough to have a room overlooking the bay (at the rear of the hotel), it will cost you 7 euros per person to 'upgrade'.
There were lots of complaints about the standard of breakfast on offer. Cereals consisted of coco pops or cornflakes, fruit was sliced orange (no other for four days) and tinned fruit. No other fresh fruit, bananas and no yoghurts. Bread is supplied.
Cold meat and cheese slices were on offer and cooked items were egg, Malta sausage, beans and tomatoes. On Sunday they push the boat out and offer slices (of what they call) bacon. Apparently, all foodstuffs are 'bought in'. Coffee and tea are provided. A toaster is available.
We bought our own fruit/yoghurt etc and this wasn't a problem.
The pool area was very nice, some sunbeds were badly in need of renovation/removal but the area provided a relaxing time in the sun(or shade). The pool is cleaned regularly.
Location wise it's good for the situation over the bay, but to find shops and a good range of restaurants you may feel the need to go into town.
All in all, a pleasant stay but wouldn't rush back unless I knew that the hotel and it's offerings have been updated somewhat.
