You can't complain about the surroundings. It is situated perfectly at St. Paul's Bay with own terrasses, "beach area" and of course pools.

The service is in generel pretty good, however, the restaurant lacks good service. The food quality is not something to brag about, so find yourself somewhere else to have your dinner. The cafe at the pool is serving good light lunches though, so you won't starve during the day if you want to spend a day at the pool.

Beware that this hotel is overpriced during summerholidays. We found that the hotel was good, but it was certainly a bit too expensive. I wouldn't rate it 4 stars - more like 3 stars in my opinion.

I suppose it is good for families as you can find a lot of activities for children during the day.

Room Tip: Choose rooms without seaview if you want a quiet room. The rooms that have seaview are noisy because...

Hello!

Together with my husband, I have visited The Dolmen Resort Hotel this month. We have booked it online. 2 days before we started our journey, my husband wrote them a message and asked the reception if our reservation was made – since we are spending there our “Honey week”. We received a positive answer.

On our arrival we had the pleasant surprise to find out, that as a present from the hotel, they have changed our standard-sea-view-room into a panoramic-suite with 3 rooms, situated on the 3rd floor, with a breathtaking view of St. Paul's Island. Moreover they have sent to our room a bucket filled with ice and Champagne.

We had a wonderful week, everything was picture perfect regarding the hotel – the breakfast, the pools, the beach, the water, the room service, the cleanliness, the late night fire shows and so on! Everything was memorable.

We surely made the best choice!
Thank you!

Room Tip: room 389 has a "dream come true" view

On arrival we were told our room was ready. After being up from two in the morning we were desperate to unpack and rest. once we got to our room it was in fact still being cleaned, with buckets ans water all over floor. I complained to reception and explained we were cross as it is our anniversary and wanted this to be special. After waiting for an hour it was finally cleaned. This was he only problem. It has fantastic views, situated central for everything, food great, comfy and clean rooms. Staff didnt make a fuss of us especially after they knew what we were celebrating but overall 9/10 rating. We would definatley return.

Room Tip: sea view rooms are fine, do not get a room at back, you lookout onto roads and row buildings

We have just retuned from a week in Malta and have had an amazing time!

We flew from Bournemouth airport with Rynair and stayed at the Dolmen Hotel.

Transfer time to the hotel was about 30 Minutes I recommend using the shuttle bus travel company at the airport 14 Euros each for a return ticket.

Having read reviews online we chose to pay extra for a sea view room with a balcony. The balcony in our original room was so small only one of us would have fitted on it at a time so I politely asked reception if they had any other rooms available. We were given a key for another room to look at on the second floor as opposed to the fifth and this was much better. The balcony was much much bigger so we swapped rooms and every night we sat and watched the sun set which was truly beautiful.

The hotel was fabulous - a choice of four pools and minutes away from the beach which had a small sunbathing area and rocks/a ladder you could swim off of.

We opted for B&B, the buffet selection was huge and the food very good. The hotel has a lovely sea front restaurant which we ate at one night it was pricy compared to others in town but we had delicious steak and wine and the atmosphere and location overlooking the sea made it well worth the money.

The other nights we did the short walk into town where there were plenty of bars and restaurants all reasonably priced.

The streets are full of tour operators offering trips but I would highly recommend the Triton full day boat trip to Comino, the blue lagoon and Gozo. 20 euros each and a lovely large boat with two opportunities to swim and snorkel. We did the open top sight seeing bus in Gozo 5 euros each and great value for money.

We also did the open top sightseeing bus South Island tour in Malta and would highly recommend. A full day is required for this especially if you want to get off and explore places.

My boyfriend did a half day diving trip (which was booked through the hotel's dive centre) and which he would also highly recommend.

Malta is a wonderful holiday destination, we are raving about it to all our friends and I would urge anyone considering visiting the country for a holiday to do so and stay at the wonderful Dolmen Hotel.

We recently stayed for 7 days at the Dolmen and had a wonderful time. The hotel is modern, with good room sizes and is well equipped. Our room also had a nice view across the bay. We had the all-inclusive package and quite frankly we didn't need to venture outside the hotel a part from stretching our legs and taking the obligatory annual boat trip. Prior to leaving the UK we also hired a car for the week, but in the end had no need or desire to leave the hotel. The hotel’s restaurant provided an excellent range of food and service. The hotel staff were efficient and provided a customer friendly service. Our 8 year old daughter spent most of the holiday in and around the swimming pool and was thoroughly occupied with the hotel’s resident entertainers the “ABC Animation” team. My wife also enjoyed the daily aqua gym which allowed her to justify indulging in the wonderful meals, ice creams and cocktails. I can honestly say I had a wonderful time too not least because the rest of family were totally satisfied. This is one hotel I would certainly revisit.

Dolmen Hotel is situated in Qawra, close to the sea, pubs, restaurants and also close to the heart of this village. As one knows, in the Summer season it is a well sought after village by both Maltese and Foreigners. This hotel has comfortable well sized rooms, with mini fridge, a/c, flat screen tv with very good channels including MBC..etc. Well it is as shown on the internet! Food is great, staff is very nice, and all in all I would say very good. I would recommend it.
What I did not like was the fact that we had to walk quite a while to find the lift. Our room was at the far end of the corridor which let me tell you was quite a long one..I than found out that lifts are all at the centre of each level..So do ask for a room which is near to the elevator..
About the indoor pool I must say it was quite small but charming with 2 hydro massage baths.

Room Tip: A room close to the elevator
