My husband and I celebrated his 60 birthday with 16 guests for 4 wonderful nights at Villa Zuccari and it was pure perfection right down to the chocolates on the beds every evening. After a full day of touring the beautiful towns of Perugia, Orvieto, Assisi, Spello, and Spoleto, it was wonderful to come home to a beautiful villa and a wonderful dinner each evening. The chef was marvelous the service was impeccable and the wine was the best! Daniela and Paolo Zuccari are such warm hosts all of our guests felt like they were staying in a friends villa. After dinner every evening we would have espesso or cappuccino in the livingroom by the fireplace accompanied with Daniela's homemade cookies. The rooms were spotless and the beds sooo comfortable. The bathrooms were beautiful! Hard to believe; especialy in the country but they were. So if you have a car and plan on visitng all these beautiful little towns during the day and relax at night at a beautiful villa and welcomed by wonderful hosts "Hotel Villa Zuccari" gets my vote. E.W.

  • Liked — bathrooms,bedrooms,beds,linens,food,service,warmth
  • Disliked — accommodations were perfect!
  • Tips/Secrets: — You need a car because it is in the country. If it were just me and my husband and I wanted to go out to dinner evey night I would probably stay at Hotel San Luca in Spoleto only because it is run by Daniela and Paolo Zuccar.

Villa Zuccari - A GEM in the hills of Umbria

Villa Zuccari is a treasure tucked in the hills of Umbria. The Zuccari family and their staff provide a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all their guests. The villa has been in the Zuccari family for 400 or 500 years and is located about 4 km from Montefalco. It is very convenient for day trips to Spello, Trevi, Spoleto, Assisi, and Perugia. The rooms are large by European standards and very nicely done. Each one has its own character and decor. The library, sitting room, breakfast room/bar, and grounds all contribute to a very relaxing environment. We would definitely go back there again - for a longer stay! There's much more to explore in Umbria.

Very much enjoyed our night at Villa Zuccari. We were given a very reasonable rate, perhaps due to the time of the year, so very pleased with price/value. Room was very clean, large, renovated, comfortable large king bed, very large bathroom. Had standard, garden side room, and was very satisfied although a pool view side might be nice if you want to spend a little extra money but I had no regrets. We were lucky enough to sit by the pool at the end of the day
See a sampleober)....and enjoy the nearby sounds of church bells ringing and countryside, w hile sipping some vino rosso. Evening meal was very good, reasonably priced. Breakfast variety, very good. Only recommendation is that they play "italian" music in their dining room instead of North American....afterall, that's why I came to Italy! Visited the nearby town of Montefalco. Very small, no tourists. Enoyed Orvieto more but we did meet a local store owner just outside the wall of the old city, who gave us a tasting of Sangrinto wines and oils. Really nice and unplanned!. Had we had the time to visit Assisi and Spoleto, I would definitely say that the villa is well located for those day trips...and then you come back at the end of the day for a nice relaxing time by the pool and satisfying meal. A 3 night stay would have been perfect! Thank you for memorable stay in Umbria as we headed between Venice and Amalfi Coast. I hope to be back one day soon!

My partner and I stayed here mid september this year. We found the rooms very generous and the staff extremely helpful. They were happy to make reservations for evening meals and also arranged for us to go wine and olive oil tasting. We were lucky enough to have good enough weather to be able to use the large pool. The location of the hotel was great for exploring nearby hill towns such as Gubbio and Todi. There are some great restaurants in Spello, in particular La Cantina and Il Molino. Breakfasts were lovely with homemade cakes and you have the option of eating breakfast on the terrace. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

My husband and I spent a wonderful 5 days at Villa Zuccari at the beginning of Sept. 2006. This was our sixth trip to Italy and our first to Umbria. After reading TripAdvisor reviews, we choose Villa Zuccari and it exceeded expectations. Only open for one year, the physical structure and grounds were impeccable and lovely. Set in a beautiful agricultural plain halfway between Montefalco and Trevi, we found the location perfect for short daytrips to the medieval towns of Perugia, Spoleti, Orvieto and Assisi. Our room was stunning: large, well-decorated and painted a deep shade of raspberry. A highlight was the large, modern bathroom, and of course, the spectacular view overlooking the ample pool, extending through the valley and into the mountains beyond. We found the entire staff warm and helpful, from the maids and desk clerks right up to the owners. Everyone speaks English fluently. We can’t say enough about the dining room. The kitchen was terrific, producing fresh, delicious and simply prepared meals. The suggested wines of the region were a great accompaniment too. After spending most days exhausted from sightseeing, we would probably have eaten at Villa Zuccari on more than the 2 occasions we did. As avid dog lovers missing our own pup at home, we were delighted to meet the owner’s new puppy, Peepo, a gangly, loveable Red Setter. We give Villa Zuccari the highest recommendation and have already recommended it to our Canadian and English friends.
