“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

We had a wonderful 3-night stay as Casa Turrita in July. Susan is extremely helpful with making restaurant reservations (and all her suggestions were great!) as well as arranging winery visits, providing guidebooks on Umbria and environs, and suggesting itineraries for the day. We're definitely going back!

Room Tip: Susan has one large and one smaller room. Because we made reservations earlier, we could get the lar...

Spending eight glorious days and nights at Casa Turrita helped make our first venture through Umbria a complete delight. Our beautiful room was very comfortable with a wonderful bed, finest quality sheets and a modern bathroom.
Just outside the front door, the late summer grapes in the vineyard across the road and the beauty of the next-door olive grove highlighted the area's two most important products ... great wines and exquisite olive oil.

Montefalco is a wonderful walled town with terrific restaurants. It is also a great stepping off point for journeys to Spello, Assisi, Trevi, Orvieto, Norcia, Spoleto and Perugia .... just a few among the many beautiful and historic walled Hill Towns of Umbria.

Susan Armstrong, owner of Casa Turrita, has a wealth of knowledge about Umbria and Italy and was a genuine delight to be around.

Under two hours from Rome by car, or by train to nearby Foligno, Casa Turrita was a delightful "find". We hope to return.

Was it the welcoming terrace's delightful views of neighboring close-to-harvest grape vines? the bookshelf-lined hall leading to our apartment? the efficient little kitchen soon stocked with local bread, wine, pork, peaches, pears, and vegetables from Montefalco's farmers' market and shops? the location so convenient to Assisi, Bevagno, Deruta, Foligno, Orvieto, Perugia, Todi, Trevi, Spoleto, Spello, not to mention the wine festival in Montefalco? our so-comfortable bed and convenient little clothes washing machine? or the tour Susan Armstrong translated for/arranged with the Orvieto archeologist through Etruscan burial sites & underground--where we learned to read Etruscan inscriptions, saw 3,000 years' worth of layered/buried history, and came to understand the meaning of Etruscan mosaic motifs? Thank you, Susan, for your generous, gracious hospitality and another memorable stay in your wonderful B&B! Keep the apartment ready! We shall return!!

Room Tip: Although we ate most meals out, we loved having the apartment's efficiency kitchen.

We just spent a week at Casa Turrita after a four year absence. We had a fantastic time in 2007 and our 2011 visit was even better! The host is an encyclopedia of information about the region - history, geography, restaurants, shopping, wine, cooking classes, tours, etc. and is friendly, accommodating and fluent in Italian as well as English. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable, with the most comfortable bed in years!

We cooked some of our own meals in the well appointed kitchen, lingering long after on the shaded terrace, surrounded by grape-laden vineyards, olive trees and the host's fruit trees and garden. Being outside of town, Casa Turrita is utterly quiet - something our friends staying in town noted early each morning as the church bells rang!

Most of all, the owner/host, Susan Armstrong, is a warm and delightful guide to a short or long visit in Umbria, whether you want the best pizza, local wines or olive oil, historic sites for a teenager, hiking trails or immersion in the thousands of years of history in and around Montefalco. Casa Turrita is restful, has its own library and reliable connectivity for those of us who cannot afford to completely "unplug."

At the beginnig, It was hard to find the house, as it is located outside the main road, but this is part of the charming, you fill you are in an unique place.
Everything was perfect. Really, the place is beutifull, Susan is there to help you in everything! Brekfast are incredible, if the weather allows you get the brekfast outside. The views are incredibles!
Is the perfect place to exploring Umbria, we spend there two nights and leave the house saying we should return here for a week! It was one of the nicest part of our trip.

We stayed in the apartment. Very clean and tidy, comfortable bed with fantastic views of the valley and mountains in the distance from the bedroom window. Susan was a very accommodating hostess. She even organized a wine tasting tour with lunch for us. Ideal location for exploring the many towns and places of interest in Umbria. Our favourite was Assisi.

Most places you book and stay you think about the amenities, relatively, and are happy with what you get, if you get something nice. Here it is different: here you are welcomed and immediately become a part of rich dimensions. We had all three rooms, which included the kitchen upstairs, and it was like home. But for breakfast we went downstairs and were feted like kings, but not like 'mere' royalty - - a bit more like family - - with Susan's careful, thoughtful, expansive accents, not to mention great recommendations for travel and tastes in the region. This is not like staying at a hotel, B&B, pension, agricultura, or anything else. It is like finding a new room in your life, and a new home (in a spectacularly beautiful place) in this world.
