“Perfect Villa Lionella and perfect host!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2011

We have been accomodated in new villa, La Lionella and I can recommed it to bigger groups, we were 9. Villa is made from original Watch tower, with a big pool, BBQ, simply everything you need. Welcome basket is a perfect touch, anyhow, you can buy pretty good wine and superb olive oil on reception. the property is very big, big garden with olive trees. You are only couple steps from nice city Montaione with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets, but on other hand, you are in still nature, with views to forests and hills.
Il Torrino has inside this property another beautyfull apartment and pools, for 2-6 people, but their are separate from each other. We took breakfast on villa, costs 10 EUR per person, but it is worth for. You get cappucinos, esspresos, hams, cheeses, cakes, ....simply everything you want. And personal service too:-)... You can also make by yourselves, but this was very comfortable....
But the best thing on this one week trip was Marina, our host. She speaks perfect english and german and she organized all our trips, restaurants bookings, were very helpfull in all things we needed.
Restaurants to visit in Montaione: Casa Masi, Il Caminetto, Oesteria San VIvaldo, Capre Diem....
Thing to do: Visit Firenze (by train from Monatione), Pisa, Certaldo (very nice and tourists free), S.Giminiano, Voltera, Sienna....
So, can I recommend Villa Lionella? Nope. I can HIGHLY recommend!!!!!
Thanks Marina....keep doing :-)

We stayed here for a week in Petrarca .The accommodation was very clean, comfortable. The welcome food hamper was plentiful. The pool and surrounding gardens are very well looked after. We had access to laundry facilities. They have thought of everything!!Our accommodation had a lovely private garden , bbq , loungers and table and chairs to sit out. The bedroom window has a fly screen to keep out the pesky mosquitoes. The property is gated too . Driveable distances to all tourist locations and good train timetables from nearby Castelfiorino. Montaione has some good restaurants and excelent local wines. It is served by a good selection of shops to obtain provisions.Very quiet at night apart from the odd hoot from the owl!

We stayed at Il Torrino for one week in May. Il Torrino is perfectly situated within an hour from Pisa, Lucca, Volterra, Florence, Siena and San Gimigiano.. so all the places you really want to visit! The nearest train station is a short drive away so you can easily get into Florance and Siena.

Montaione itself has two "super markets" within 5 minutes drive, both of which seem to be open till 8pm and stock local produce. There's a bakery or two in Montaione itself and some good restaurants and icecream! There's also a deli shop which is great for gifts. 15 minutes or so away there is a fantastic restaurant called Casa Masi - if you can spare the money it is so worth it as the food and atmosphere is amazing.

We stayed in the smallest villa. It had everything we needed, we cooked quite a lot and were not short of anything. The welcome basket we recieved on arrival was also great for that first night without food. There's a BBQ too so great for cooks!

The pool is freezing, but thats a blessing when its 36+ outside. In the week we were there we only ever had the pool to ourselves! There's a swing, ping pong table and a tennis court too. The "wildlife" is great to watch - lizards, cats, super ants and butterflies!
The villa itself is perfect for two and never got hot. It was perfectly clean too. The staff on site are amazing and will give you great advice and will book restaurants/taxi's for you and give you a map of the local area.

We've picked up the brochure and will be planning a trip back soon!

Room Tip: All the villa's here would be great!

We have just returned from a great stay at ll Terrino. We had the 3 bed apartment "Magnifico " and it was. Great quality ,peace and loads of space to ourselves.
VERY clean. Owner Amelio could not be more helpfull although his English was about as good as our Italian, Maria the young lady that works there speaks very good English and is also very helpfull. We could live there, we did Florence, Pisa, Siena, Lucca, and loads more including the coast all by hire car ( holiday autos was the cheapest we found). Do support the resturants and shops in Montaoine as they are very good. We have no bad points only that we had to come home. As with most tourist places when eating or drinking out in places like Florence do so in the back streets where the quality and prices are very good not in the squares where 2 beers and a glass of wine cost us over 50 e.
At night sit in the garden and listen to the noise, no cars, no voices, just the frogs and the crickets and the odd dog barking.
Buy the local wine and the bread and most definately the ice cream.
If you find any where better than this please let us know.
Great place, great people and a great country.
Brian, Mandy and Katrina.

We stayed in the smallest apartment called 'Petrarca' - one bedroom with a kitchen/diner/living area which was more than adequate for our needs. There is a communal pool which we often had to ourselves. We also had our own garden/bbq area. Lovely owners who were very helpful. We were there as part of our honeymoon and felt very spoilt.
Booked through Simply Travel who left a lovely hamper for us on arrival. There was also a really useful guide to all the local towns and restaurants.
You do need a car to get around but Montaione is very conveniently located between Florence, Siena and Pisa and it's about an hour drive to each.
Would definitely stay here again. We loved Tuscany and this was a great base to explore the area.
