My wife and I have just returned from Italy where we had the pleasure of staying at the Residenza d' Arte for six wonderful nights. Spectacular views, dramatic decor and warm friendly service from a family run top class Tuscan Inn made our visit unforgetable. Outstanding.

“We wish we'd stayed longer...”

Residenza d'Arte

May 9, 2008

We stayed at the Residenza d'Arte for 2 nights on our recent trip to Italy, a trip during which we traveled for a 9 days and then capped it by getting married in Assisi. We stayed here for the 3rd and 4th nights of our trip; having come from beautiful but hectic Florence, it was a wonderful respite from the city.

I won't repeat the details of the property that are throughout these reviews, except to say that it is beautiful, peaceful, unique, and the pictures on their website actually understate the beauty.

We stayed in a smaller room, the Van Gogh, and we agreed after leaving that if we ever have the good fortune to return, we'll stay in a larger room or suite. Not because the room was small - it was a completely reasonable size, with an average tiny Italian bathroom - but because we loved it so much we think it would be well worth spending extra for a larger room.

The hosts while we were there - father and daughter - are lovely, and we enjoyed chatting with them. My husband especially enjoyed hearing about the father's road trip across the US years ago. We also enjoyed their dogs, given that we were missing ours.

Our hosts gave us wonderful dinner recommendations; our favorite was a small establishment in nearby Sinalunga. It's a small family run place, and none of the lovely little old Italian ladies serving spoke English. We continue to talk about how wonderful that meal was, not just because of the food, but because of the experience.

If you do stay here, I have two recommendations/suggestions:
1) Take a early evening walk through Torrita di Siena, especially on a day after touring the popular towns in the region. The exceptional quietness in comparison provides a beauty of its own.
2) This B&B is in an old stone building without a lot of rugs, etc. Sound travels. Our second night we had a good giggle over the couple in the room across the common area who, needless to say, had a very active night. If you're a private person, keep that in mind when engaging in intimate aerobics.

To sum up, we loved this place, and would go back in a heartbeat.

Stayed at Residenza for 2 nights in April. It was the most expensive accomodation out of 4 B&B we booked for our Italian holiday and the worst of all.
Will start with the good points:
Residenza D'Arte is located on a beautiful hill, in the middle of magic Tuscan countryside.
The ambiance is truly unique and the art works exhibited are impressive, compliments to the creator Anna Izzo The hosts are friendly and can give truly excellent advice on what to visit in the area or where to eat.
HOWEVER:
During the two nights of our romantic retreat we ended up sleeping in shorts and long-sleeve T-shirts and at all times avoid stepping on the floor barefoot. The dried blood stains on the blankets were disgusting, the formerly white curtains porbably hadn't been washed since day one, the ceilings were covered with spider webs, we had a glass in the bathroom which still had toothpaste stains from all the previous visitors, pillow cases were clean but torn.

Honestly, for 150 Euro a night you can find so much better value in Italy, while we are all waiting for the owners of Rezidenza to hire a cleaner.

Reading this review it was been a real surprise for all of us because nothing like this can happen in our hotel.
In fact we personally check the rooms after the daily cleaning of the waiters, and our linen and blankets are always clean and fresh.
Sometime we think that some guests that have been charged for a late cancellation or a no-show booking he wants a sort of revenge and tripadvisor seems to be the best place to damage our business.
I hope people will not believe in these lies that's all i can tell.....

“Yes, this is the right choice!”

Residenza d'Arte

Oct 26, 2007

We spent 8 days at Residenza, and found that all of these positive comments about Eric, Francesca, Paggio and Ana are well deserved. They are genuinely and tirelessly gracious, upbeat and helpful. If you come to Tuscany wanting to wake to views across fertile fields of a nearby city where it looks like history has stood still, live in the style of building that you actually came to Tuscany to see, talk with people from Tuscany that are every bit as friendly as you heard they were, then this is your place. You live in the postcard.

Our favorite restaurant was Latte de Luna in Multipuciano. The suckling pig is awesome. Frequented by locals, you need to ask for reservations a few days in advance. We went back a second time, the owner recognized us and squeezed us in without a reservation.

What a beautiful experience! The Rezidenza is beautiful--in artwork, views, charm, and warm hospitality. Four of us stayed a full week, using the inn as our home base and taking day trips from there. With the host's guidance, we were able to visit interesting ancient cities, beautiful vistas, and even a new outlet mall. We never left the inn too early in the moring though because the inn provided delicious breakfasts served by the lovely family who own and run the place, in a beautiful outdoor setting on warm days and indoors in their exquisitely renovated main room on less perfect days. And both the exterior and interior of the buildings were adorned by bright and most interesting artworks of the host's wife. I would certainly return on a future visit to the Rezidenza and would highly recommend it to others. Pat in Connecticut, USA
