“Lovely quaint place set in a picturesque area”

Believe everything good that has been written about this place. Its ALL true. Truly amazing, a unique place with the most amazing views, in saying that most places in Tuscany are beautiful, but Georges the manager just makes it even better, his recommendations and his attention to making your trip memorable are priceless. The restaurant recommendations he makes are second to none, all fantastic. The history and the art of the place, maybe not to every body's taste, but you still can not help but admire it. My wife and I spent 5 days there, but have taken away a lifetime of memories. When you stay there, you must ask Georges, the manager, to prepare a cheese and cold cut platter along with his exquisite home made focaccia bread and a bottle of wine and have it outside with the stunning view. The place was amazing but the service and the help you get from Georges is priceless. A gem of a man.

Staying at Residenza D'Arte was an absolute highlight of our five week European trip. Go to the official website and look at the photos. It is all this and much more. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to be seen; an amazing view over a grove of olive trees; a beautiful and intriguing artwork; an ancient wall baking in the sun. Residenza D'Arte was once a monastery in the 14th century, was one the home of an acclaimed artist and now is now just the most wonderful place to stay not the least because of the host Georges who in a past life ran 5 star hotels and who now bundles his consummate knowledge of the hospitality industry with immense charm and friendship to try and make your stay as perfect as possible. Georges arranged car hire for us, picked us up and dropped us back at the rail station and provided invaluable advice prior to and during our stay. The night that we arrived, I was not up to driving and so Georges took the time to drive us to a beautiful restaurant and pick us up when we were finished. I am writing this now in the morning. I just wish I was there and sitting down to breakfast in the dining room which in itself is a work of art. So too are Georges coffees. One was never enough. We stayed four nights and loved every moment. Great location (so close to Cortona and Montepulciano), great atmosphere and great hospitality.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite which was wonderfully spacious

We stayed at Residenza d'arte in late October for 3 nights. The hotel was ideally situated for our purposes. We wanted to stay in the southern part of Tuscany and be close to Cortona, Siena and Montepulciano. The manager of the hotel was incredible at helping us both with our pre-trip planning and while we were there. The rooms are decorated with some modern art work. We loved it but I could see how some people might find it not to their taste- CHECK THE WEBSITE before you go. The breakfast is very well done (excellent coffee) and we were smart enough to listen to the recommendations for dinner from Georges were spot on for what we were looking for. I wish we would have had time to check out some of the local wineries but we had so much fun visiting local towns, it didn't work out. Despite the monsoon that hit us, we had a great time and would return if we're ever in the area again.

My husband and I just returned from a 10 day trip to Rome, Florence, and Tuscany. We found this hotel on Tablet and very glad we did. After 8 days of running around Rome and Florence trying to cram in all that we could, we were thrilled to call Residenza d'Arte our "home" for the last 3 days of our trip. It is a charming, 14th century monastery converted in part to a small hotel. It is an excellent location for day trips to many historic towns in Tuscany. George, our host, could not have been more personable and helpful. He sent us to a phenomenal restaurant in Montefolonico for dinner. We drove, but if you do not feel like driving to the top of a gorgeous mountain to have dinner at an exquisite restaurant, George will take you and pick you up! He took excellent care of all of his guests. If you want a quaint and charming hotel, with personal service in an awesome setting, this is the place. Unfortunately, we were there after summer, but if you are lucky you will be there when the field of millions of sunflowers out your window will smile your way each day. P. S. Hi, George! thanks again!

Residenza d'Arte has enough art to fill a museum and was tastefully decorated to not overwhelm. The suites were spacious, the air conditioning adequate and the baths modern.
Just prepare yourself for a treat as Geoges will take care of your every wish. He is a great host but we did not expect that he would also be a chef. Our breakfast was prepared fresh each morning including the pastries and his own fresh juices. He may even surprise you with his own touch to an evening apres on the patio.
Geoges is the ultimate consierge and certainly makes this one of my favorite stops in Italy.

Residenza D'Arte is a good choice for:

#1 Those looking for a unique place with rustic charm and quirkiness rather than the usual 'luxury' suspects. While some may be spooked by the 'female mannequins' situated throughout the property, I find them oddly interesting and artistic, and it was my curiosity for such oddity which attracted me to Residenza D'Arte in the first place. Afterall, art is in the eyes of the beholder, and so is Residenza D'Arte.

#2 Those who appreciate a great host - Georges - who is attentive to detail and is a mine full of information on what to see and do in the area.

#3 Connoiseurs of great croissants. Freshly baked every morning, Georges takes great pride in serving the best croissants in the region. His breakfast spread is scrumptious - juices, fruit, salamis, percorino cheeses, muffins, yogurt, frothy cappucinos - all meticulously and lovingly prepared by Georges himself. Georges really does have breakfast down to an art.

Georges, thank you very much for a wonderful experience and please take note that we shall be back for more of your croissants!

The most scenic and rolling hills are the view from this wonderful Residance. We stayed at the Residance for two nights and we didn't have a car and George was very generous in his time and knowledge of the area and places to eat. George was even lovely enough to drive us to a winery and a restaurant for lunch and dinner as he knew we did not have a car...my only recommendation is make sure you are driving through it's very necessary to have a car! But I highly recommend staying here it's very calm and serene and very much a memorable experience. Breakfast is very personal and fresh almost sitting down to a home made breakfast! Thankyou George for your wonderful hospitality our stay with you will always be a highlight for us.
