Sensi is a hidden gem, there's no doubt about it. It has been open for a couple of years but not many know of it, only Franco's its sister restaurant.

Despite the name Sensi bills itself as contemporary Italian, not exactly on the mark but they do serve some good pasta dishes and the wine selection and dessert menu does have a distinctive Italian flair.

The dining room is rather modern, yet elegant, large tables nicely spaced apart. Great for a romantic or slightly formal meal, or even an informal one.

My wife and I have been to Sensi probably a dozen times now, each time as excellent as the previous. You'll learn to come back to old favourites, myself the excellent filet mignon (as good as I've had anywhere in the US or Europe), the wife enjoys the seafood quattro to start.

The service is always friendly, yet formal and never feel stuffy or lacking. You feel a little cheap giving anything less than 20%!

I've yet to find somewhere in Richmond that comes very close to matching the Sensi experience and although I work just a couple of minutes drive from the place it seems nobody is really aware of it. My wife and I have turned up on Saturday night without reservations and got a table with ease. We've enjoyed the place so much I've gone as far as buying gift certificates for Secret Santa at work!

If you are looking for excellent food, an interesting selection of wine and formal yet friendly service Sensi can't be beat.

I honestly must say that this is the best meal I have ever had in Richmond - by far. My husband & I like to eat out, and we do so frequently. Nothing has come close to how great this place is.

First off, it is billed as kind of an italian restaurant. I don't think that is very fitting. It is just an upscale restaurant that does great fish, steak & pasta.

The atmospher is modern and romantic. We went early on a Friday evening. There weren't many people there when we arrived, but it quickly filled as the night went on.

There was a good amount of room between the tables, which enabled the atmosphere to be intimate.

My husband & I both started with cocktails and a cup of the Lobster Bisque with Crab, which was amazing. Creamy and with lots of meat.

My husband had the New York Strip, which was some of the best strip I have ever had in my life. It seriously rivaled Ruth Chris & Mortons.

I had the Rockfish, which was out of this world. The fish was served with a lemon buerre blanc sauce that was incredible. At the touch of my fork the fish fell apart.

Sides here are served a la carte. We got the broccoletti, which was delicious.

The service here was excellent as well. Very attentive without being overbearing. Our waiter was filling my wine glass before I even realized that it needed to be filled.

This is a great place for a romantic evening!
