“Good food, average service, pricy!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

The food was good to great. The service was barely average. They were pretty slow and the staff was limited. The restaurant has limited options for vegetarians. However, on a positive note, they complimented us with a couple of desserts (probably because we had a huge check). Overall, average. Would visit again if I have time and am ready to go expensive.

“Great Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

I've been to all of the Indian restaurants in the area and this ranks right up there with Anokha and Lehja. It is a small, quaint, modern venue with great ambience and food to match. I'm delighted now that I don't have to drive way out to the west end to get great Indian food. Totally check it out!

“Gourmet Indian!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

A great restaurant. Mel and his team are awesome. This is not a job for them. It is a calling and their mission.

“Worst Indian food ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

The food here was absolutely awful. We ordered several different dishes and each item came out flavorless and gross. It literally is the worst Indian food I have ever tasted. Frozen Indian dinners from Trader Joe's would have been a better option. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was pure water. This is normally a creamy sauce that is flavorful. We tried several other dishes but all tastef like water. Granted we tried this place right after they opened but we were the only patrons so the chef could've easily remade the food. The staff was nice albeit unapologetic for the terrible food. They saw we ate hardly any of the meal but they never asked us if we enjoyed our dinner or if they could bring us something else. I like supporting small businesses but this was so bad that I could not justify returning. The meal was also very expensive and for the three of us it cost us almost a hundred dollars without alcohol (they didn't have their liquor license). Hope they got a new chef or there is no way this place will work.

“Authentic Indian Restaurant, Richmond, VA (finally!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Lovely setting, small and clean and open. The food is very original and is made to please you. There are foods that are "out of the ordinary" selections of most Indian restaurants and the spices that are blended make it extra-ordinarily tasty. The wait staff (her first day) was pleasant and helpful with suggestions and did not "crowd us" with attention while being attentive. The chef came to our table at the end of the meal to meet us and ended up giving us a nice desert of pistacio ice cream. We have told people about this wonderful new addition to Cary Street and wish it well. We most definitely will claim this as one of our favorites.
