Description: Sine (pronounced "Shin-ay) Irish Pub and Restaurant in Richmond's historic Shockoe Slip opened in May, 1999, when renovations of the former warehouse space were complete. Modeled after authentic "city pubs" in Ireland, parts of Sine's rustic interior were actually designed and built in the mother country then transported across the Atlantic. The result is a comfortable and traditional Irish pub accessible to all in the Richmond Metropolitan area. With cozy snugs, a huge bar and spacious dining areas, patrons will agree - Sine lives up to its Gaelic name - "This is it!". Pubs in Ireland are a community gathering place - a comfortable place for family and friends to spend some time together. At Sine, we've tried to create the same atmosphere with great food and plenty of cozy areas to sit and relax. Our menu includes traditional Irish pub fare as well as American food served with a Celtic flair. We serve lunch, after work specials, dinner and Sunday brunch. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, our pub patrons enjoy live entertainment for free. We're happy to serve large parties and will even take care of special events - just contact our general manager. Sine Irish Pub and Restaurant is located at 1327 East Cary Street in Shockoe Slip. Stop in and see for yourself why Sine is "it"!

“Fantastic! We wanted to lick our plates!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Sin e' Irish Pub (Shin-ay) is Gaelic for "This Is It!" How true it is! When walking down E. Cary Ave. for a reservation previously made at another restaurant, we saw a line of people waiting to get into Sin e' so we knew it had to be good. We first had lunch there...we shared a huge "Nacho ordinary Nacho" and we've never had anything like it....sooooooo delicious! It is a BIG bowl of diced fried potatoes with cheddar cheese, bacon, jalepenos, tomatoes and scallions. We were leary that it might be overwhelming with the taste of bacon, but it wasn't....it was too good to believe. The next time we had hamburgers and they were delicious. But, the meal that surprised us the most was the "Coco-Cola Short Ribs and macaroni and cheese." I'm telling you, the ribs were fork tender and the best we've ever tasted. We've never had ribs served on top of macaroni and cheese but I will make it at home....of course, mine won't be able to compete with theirs. And, they had cheese-its crunched on top of the cheese......that just topped it off! Let's just say it would be worth the five-hour drive from where we live to go back to Sin e' in Richmond! We wanted to lick our plates after each meal. The interior of the pub is nicely decorated; I've attached one photo.

“Good food, cool atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

We ate here the other night and really enjoyed it! The shrimp and crab dip appetizer was absolutely incredible. Our crab cakes were pretty good; the breading was a little odd though. I loved the garlic mashed potatoes and the mac & cheese. Our server wasn't the greatest but wasn't terrible either. Overall it was a nice experience - good food with very fair prices!

“Wonderful meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Nice Irish pub: meal started with a very good potato soup that was topped with cheese, scallions and bacon. The soup was a tad bit on the spicy side which I think takes away from the flavor of the soup. We had a "small side salad" that was huge: excellent homemade croutons and nice and fresh mixed greens/lettuce/tomato/cheese/onion and egg. Very relaxing meal with nice soft music in the background. Even though the bar was adjacent to where we were sitting in the booth by the window, we still could hold a conversation. Wonderful place.

“If you like rubins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

We have been going to sine for several years now and have never been disappointed. Their baked potatoe soup is outstanding. Their fish and chips are huge. But their rubens, to me, is where they really shine. I've gotten it the last 3 times we've been there. Its got a great friendly atmosphere, nice patio, and 1 of those hard to decide on what to get menus. We like it enough that we had our wedding reception there a couple years back. Great place a date night or family and friends.
