We booked the stay in the Richmond Travelodge based on the reputation, NASCAR sponsorship and promotion, and the Travelodge web-site pictures and descriptions. The weekend rate was $150.00 per room
for two nights each.

Nothing was as it appeared on the website. The rooms were moldy and musty and dirty. Because of the NASCAR event, there were no available
rooms at any other regional hotels. We were without options.

We stayed the first night out of sheer necessity only. Instead of staying a second night - another miserable night in the rooms, we chose to travel 2-1/2 hours to a friends house and clean rooms - we drove until 4:00 a.m. instead of staying another night at the Travelodge.

NASCAR fans - Don't do it! Anyone, don't do it! I would give this property a ZERO rating if I could!

I've seen cleaner bathrooms in gas stations!
There was some kind of "bodily fluid" on the walls (I know b/c I washed it off with good ol soap!)
The spread had some kind of yellow stain all over the inside of it.
The bathroom had a roach or something dead on the floor.
You should get the hint when you arrive at the reservation area and there is a sign that states "no refund after ten minutes".

EconoLodge use to be a name you can trust - NOT ANYMORE

Read reviews above, they are so true, and everything is described perfetly. Very dirty, run down hotel, smelling bad, AC was opened so the whole machinery was exposed, bed was broken. Carpets dirty with bad stains on it. Bathroom was the worst, I felt like I am going to loose it, especially that my profession is a hotelier.
I have stayed at many places but this Travelodge should be shut down, as it is not meeting the minimum criteria. Never stay there again, obviously. I wish I had pictures, because words cannot describe this hole.

We stayed in this horrible place May 4 and 5 because we were going to the NASCAR race at RIR. A friend of mine booked it, not me, so I was unaware of how bad it was. The lobby was dirty, and the "continental breakfast" area was disgusting also.

Our room was really rundown. The headboard was broken and just hanging above one of the beds. The refrigerator leaked if you turned the temperature down and froze everything if you turned it up. There were holes in the walls too.

The bathroom was even worse. Our toilet was broken. Someone came to repair it but it didn't solve the problem. Water leaked out around the bottom of the toilet so that the bathroom floor was always wet. The room had an ugly moldy damp smell because of it. The bathtub was really horrible. It looked like it had never been cleaned. We went to the front desk and complained but it was never taken care of.

We had no choice but to stay here after all these problems. We were 6 hours from home and all places were booked because of the race.

This is not a nice area of Richmond. I would avoid it at all costs.
