Owner description: Maymont is a 100-acre American estate, an extraordinary gift given to us by James and Sallie Dooley who lived here from 1893 to 1925. Whether strolling in the gardens, touring the mansion or watching river otters play, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Take a picnic, visit the petting zoo, watch the waterfalls, see American bison and foxes. Every visitor and local will appreciate this park.

“Country In The City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

As a wedding minister, I've enjoyed the Italian Gardens, Japanese Gardens and have taken my grandchildren to the Children's Zoo. Maymont park is a beautiful, clean and friendly place to take a stroll, picnic or celebrate. There is ample parking and with its lovely gardens and scenic landscape, it is truly a feast for the eyes.

“Good picnic area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Good for field trips for little children to see animals - not quite like a zoo - historic mansion - perfect outing when weather is great. Now when that is in Richmond??!! Just check weather first.
