Hampton Inns have become our go to hotels while traveling. We know what to expect and it is easy to make reservations in advance or on the fly. OUr son attends U of Richmond and the Glenside Hampton Inn is a perfect place for us to stay.

Enjoyed this hotel. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is clean. The lobby area is well suited for the complimentary breakfast. The area around the hotel needs to be built up a little more. This, however, is not a slight on the hotel. Rather, it would make the hotel more attractive.

Arrived at the hotel extremely tired but, it was refreshing to find Lemonade in the foyer and coffee/tea etc. The receptionist was super friendly but, professional in checking me in. The hotel is in a nice and quiet neighborhood.

Once at the hotel, there were 2 issues that kept us from staying the night. 1) The room had a VERY strong perfume smell (like Febreze or something) and I am sensitive to these odors. The window was screwed shut and had no screen anyway, so there was no airing out the room. Front desk said they had no air filter or anything to offer to help with the smell.
2) NO stair access to the upper floors from inside the building. One member of our group doesn't like to use elevators, and since there were no 1st floor rooms available, we got a 2nd floor room, thinking we'd just take the stairs like we usually do. Nope. The only stairs from the 2nd floor to the ground floor, are 'exit only' doors that lead outside the building. The front desk person (who was very nice) explained that what people do (which tells me that others have an issue with this too), is have one person take the elevator up, then walk down the stairs and let the other person in the door. Certainly not the best arrangement. (As you pull up to the hotel, you can see large windows with a staircase inside which made us think stair access would be extra nice, but the stairs aren't 'nice', just your standard, not decorated, stairwell, and then no entry from the ground floor.)
Since I couldn't tolerate the perfume smell and one member of the group wouldn't be able to easily go up and down stairs (to breakfast, etc.) we decided not to stay, and went to another hotel. Beyond these issues, it seemed like a nice hotel, so if those things wouldn't bother you, this could be a good choice, but they were deal-breakers for us.

Room Tip: If you don't like relying on elevators, get a room on the 1st floor. There is no stair access t...

I stayed here overnight for a business trip. Free breakfast with fresh fruit. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was too. Great staff. I will definitely stay here again and I would bring my family.

We arrived after midnight during a time when there were no rooms in most hotels. This one was almost booked up too but managed to find a room that met our requirements and at a great price. I was impressed with the lobby decor, the spacious rooms, the queen-size beds, large shower, and customer service. I would definitely recommend it!

Two adults and one child were planning to stay at the Courtyard Marriott, but the front desk there claimed they did not have our reservation and they were "booked" up. We heard another couple being turned away as well and heard the term "overbooked". We drove a few blocks to this Hampton Inn. They had a spacious King suite with a sofa bed available. The rooms were neat, clean and comfortable. (The caulking in the bathtub needed to be cleaned and replaced, but we see that in most of the hotels where we stay. The bathroom was otherwise very clean.) There was a small refrigerator which we needed. The staff members were courteous and helpful. My grand daughter enjoyed the breakfast because the hotel was kid-friendly. We will probably stay at this hotel again.
