Visiting the University of Richmond for a quick trip and needed a local place. Since I'm comfortable with the brand, I opted for the Hampton Inn...And I'm happy I did. Hotel is completely redone and centrally located. Accommodations were great as I especially liked the walk-in shower!...Very clean and breakfast is included...I enjoyed fresh coffee and yogurt. Hotel staff could not have been kinder. Some real Southern Hospitality here for my one night stay...

The staff members were wonderful and very helpful. The building was very clean and very quite which is something I always look for while staying at any hotel. If you want to stay in a place where you can get a good night sleep, be rested in the morning, and enjoy a great breakfast that is offered to every guest for free come to this hotel. I love this place!!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor or very quiet

This Hampton is just off I 64 in Richmond. Michael checked me in and provided some menus for nearby restaurants that deliver.

Room was large and well stocked. It also had a refrigerator and a microwave.

The decor was very modern and looked like the hotel was new or recently renovated.

This is a hotel I would definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

I can't rate the breakfast due to being on the road by 3:30 AM

While in general I find Hampton Inns to be a great value for the money, we were a little disappointed in this one.
Breakfast: Breakfast is supposed to be through 10:00. We arrived at 9:50 and the doors were closed. Anyway, probably just as well, since the breakfast area had been very crowded earlier and looked like a bomb went off in there.
Exterior: There was a surprisingly amount of litter on the parking lot when we arrived. No big deal, except that the exact same litter was still there at 10:00 the next morning, 18 hours after we checked in. It made the place look trashy and poorly maintained.
Heating: while their indoor room heating/cooling unit functioned and was quieter than the typical "outside" units, it made a funny and irritating whining noise, to the point we had to turn the heat OFF during the night to keep it quiet.
Noise: room doors to hallway all SLAM shut, very loudly. Many hotels have this same problem, which is ridiculous. Every time someone leaves or enters their room, the door SLAMS LOUDLY, disturbing the rest of the hall. I could feel the vibration in the wall as someone several rooms away let their door slam. Of course, it 's not conducive to sleeping either.
Cleanliness: Room was clean overall, but there was a bit of mold around the bathtub.

I have been a long-time friend of Hampton Inn and Suites--my first choice when traveling. This was my first stay at the Glenside Inn. It is a new facility with modern decor and appearance. I was struck by the bold colors used throughout the hotel and the modern style furniture. It had the first rate service I've come to expect of Hampton Inns. AARP rates were good and the location, while a few miles from downtown Richmond, was not problematic as it is very close to I 64. There are a variety of restaurant choices close-by for lunch and evening meals.

I arrived at midnight with my daughter for a visit to see the University of Richmond and the hotel I had planned to stay at that had an available room at 10:30pm was now booked. The desk clerk suggested I try the Hampton Inn which had just opened 6 months prior. Lucky for us they had a room and I couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. The hotel was spotless, including our room and bathroom. The woman at the front desk was sooo pleasant and welcoming even though it was late at night. The bed was also comfortable. Breakfast offerings were typical for what you find in a free buffet. I have no complaints. If my daughter lands up going to the University of Richmond this will definitely be the hotel I stay at when in town.
