Richmond can be a charming town but stay away from this place. Unlike its name suggests, it is located on the rough side of town far away from all the attractions of downtown. Physical facilities are rundown and the halls and rooms are incredibly dirty. The staff that I dealt with were not helpful in dealing with problems (and there were several). When I complained that a new digital camera had been stolen from my room the manager's basic reaction was, "sorry but nothing I can really do about that." They simply did not want to deal with the problem, though my strong suspicion is that the camera heist was an inside job. Spend a few more dollars and find a decent room closer to downtown. You will enjoy yourself much more and have a much better chance of ending up with all of your valuables.

Bed Bugs, Bed Bugs, I took one downstairs to the night manager. All he said that he was very sorry and I had to wait until the day manager came in the next morning. nothing was done no one came to check my bed nothing, nothing,!
This is the worst hotel that I have even stayed in.
When I returned home three days later I had bed bug bites on my back the the side of my upper arms. horrible business trip.
thank Comfort Inn.

I stayed here in early November when I was in town for a conference. The hotel is still being renovated so the front exterior is covered with construction plastic.

The rooms are clean but the hallways are not. People leave things in the hallways. I think the hotel is letting some of the construction workers live there.

Plus, the hotel is now being used as a dorm for VCU students. Most of them seemed nice and respectful but on Friday night they were rowdy for about 30 minutes out in the parking lot.

The breakfast is above average for mid-range hotels. You actually get meat (ham, bacon, or sausage), grits, and eggs. PLus there is a waffle maker. You have your choice of syrup or strawberries as topping!

My phone did not work and nobody did anything about it. Although the staff pretended to be caring, for example, the manager actually calls your room after check-in to make sure you are fine, in reality they are too busy watching the TV and talking with each other to care.
But at least they are not rude to you.

The hotel is within walking distance (3 small blocks) to a 24-hour CVS pharmacy where you can get most things. There is also a liquor store (1 block).
The bus #6 stops right in front of the hotel and goes downtown in about 20 minutes. During the week you can take the #6 to downtown and then catch the airport bus. All for just $1.40.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel for those who are not too picky. The breakfast makes up for any small problems you have.

Caught a nasty rash from their dirty blankets

I stayed in the Comfort Inn Conference Midtown Hotel in Richmond VA on July 29 - August 1. After spending the first evening there I woke up with what first appeared to be an insect bit. Following the next morning the bit got bigger and began to spread over the course of 3-4 days. I stilled dismissed it as some sort of allergic reaction. Once I arrived home the following day I scatched my back then immeditely rubbed the bottom of my eye with the same finger and hand. That day after a full day of shopping with my son. I went into the bathroom just to notice the same exact spot where I scatched my eye earlier that day swelled up. That's when I freaked out and knew what was on my back was more than just some sort of allergic reaction. I made an appointment that following day with a dermotologist about the problem then contacted the hotel about what happened to me. After seeing a doctor they gave me a cream for the rash to stop the itching. It took almost 3 weeks for the rash to leave. And it flaked during the healing process. I know for a fact they did not change those blanets from the previous person or persons who occupied that room. My son and I stayed in that room and I am thankful to God that he did not sleep in the same bed with me. It freaks me out when I think of what might have been on those blankets. Any type of body fluid could have been left on those sheets. And what makes it worst, Comfort Inn took my incident like it meant nothing. They considered me as a liar before they considered me to be telling the truth. They were very cold in the way they handled it, now I am handling it my way. My backed is scared now and you can still see where the rash was. I do not recommend that you stay in this hotel not only because they are unsanitary but also uncourtest to important issues like mines. I would say more but I can't.

Although they are remodeling this hotel, it's still always going to be an old hotel in a bad area. I had no shampoo in my room, no clothes bag. I didn't see any outside security or camera so I was concerned about my car (due to the area). Breakfast hostess was rude and lazy.
