When we arrived, my husband saw a note on the desk (not intended for customers to see) about a prostitute coming around. This is a very bad part of town. There were men standing on balconies at night, our room was dirty, there was an unmentionable stain on the rug. The pillows under the pillow cases were so filthy that they were almost black. The closet door was broken. The window was broken and I had to stick a shampoo bottle in window frame for fear that someone would brake in. We slept with the lights on and couldn't wait to leave. We would have left but there was ice on the roads. We complained to the front desk and were given a free night which we used in Anderson, South Carolina. The Anderson LaQuinta was a palace by comparison. Not all LaQuintas are as bad as the Richmond one!!
