“Fun place to walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Carytown isn't a real "town": it's a shopping area that runs 10 blocks or so. There are big box stores at each end and lots of small stores and restaurants in between. Plenty of good people watching, too.

“The best shopping experience in Richmond.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

It is the only place in Richmond where the stores are unique. In fact many people will only shop here and not go to the malls. CanCan is located here as well as many of the best restaurants. Again, it is listed in guide books as a must do! Eclectic shops. All in walking distance of each other. Many festivals are held here each year. New Years Eve thousands of people appear.

“Fun and Fanciful”

Food - a movie - Wine - vintage clothing - Toys - high fashion. Carytown has it all in a very walkable area which is filled with happy people.

“Love this area!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Have been to Carytown on several occasions and the restaurants and boutiques are great fun. And if you happen to be in town during Halloween, the zombie walk should not be missed.

“Could use a bit more machismo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Overall, I really enjoyed Carytown, but wouldn't necessarily feel the need to rush back anytime soon. Not sure about spending a whole day here as other reviewers have suggested, but 2-3 hours definitely did the trick. Parked for free just a block off the main stretch in a residential community, so that worked out well. Despite my favorite shop being For Love of Chocolate, I thought overall the stores could afford to have a few more guy-centric shopping options available. The quirkiest and most unique shops seemed to be more geared towards female clients. Maybe just have some mantiques mixed into the array of clothing shops.
